Two weeks ago, the SheSpeaks staff challenged ourselves to take a month and complete personal goals. They ranged from drinking more water to getting more organized to being more appreciative of the world around us. And we challenged all our members to join us!

Two weeks into our month-long SheSpeaksChallenge and we are going strong (though we've had a few slip-ups along the way!) How's it going for you?

Prep the Day Challenge, Ann

I've missed a few days of getting my morning organized the night before, but overall I have kept up with it and it's made a huge difference. I'm not so flustered and running all over the place in the morning. I don't waste precious time and my head is clear on what I need to get done each day. Its really relaxing to feel more organized and more "in the drivers seat" of my own day. Plus, I'm snapping at my family less in the morning because I'm calmer.  Ahhhhh!!

Water Challenge, Julia

So far so good. I now feel myself reaching for my water bottle out of habit, which is definitely quite the change from my usual self. I had a slight hiccup last week when I spent the weekend with friends and I fell behind in my water consumption. This week I've fallen a little sick (sore throat/cough/etc), so I'm hoping to increase my water intake even more to combat my cold. I'm quite curious as to whether or not water will play a substantial role in speeding up my recovery - fingers crossed.
 
 
Gratitude Challenge, Carol
I've been writing my list of ten things I am thankful for every day! I set an alarm on my phone to remind myself mid-day. I'm worried I'll run out of things to be thankful for and some days it takes longer than others, but one of the goals is to notice the little things - so some entries are indeed little! 
 
Cardio Challenge, Missy
I'm feeling really good about what I have been accomplishing with my challenge of working out three times a week - I even did an extra workout this week! I love checking in on Twitter, searching the hashtag #SheSpeaksChallenge, and seeing what everyone else is doing and the success that others are having. Reading what others have been doing has been so inspiring!
 
 
No Added-Sugar Challenge, Aliza

I've had great success eliminating added-sugar during the week when my day is structured. The weekends have been harder and I've had a few "moments" where I fell off my plan. But overall, I've been feeling a bit more energetic and I'm sleeping better, so that gives me the incentive to keep trying to stay on track every day.

Push-Up Challenge, Susan

I haven't been perfect - I had to take a couple of days off from doing push-ups because I was sick, and I forgot to do them one day, but I got back to it and I did 18 push-ups this morning. I'm so proud! It helps that my 10-year old son decided to do the challenge with me - he's much stronger than me, so I don't want to embarrass myself too much in front of him!

Healthy Eating: Soup Challenge, Galit

I've already learned a lot from what seemed like just a simple soup challenge. At the beginning, I was making a different soup each day but I was getting stressed trying to be creative. Plus, we couldn't eat it all and my freezer was getting full. So I re-evaluated and decided that I can serve leftovers or repurpose ingredients I have already. It's been good to realize that I don't need to overthink dinner and it's shown my family that they need to be less picky.

Meditation Challenge, Kelly

Other than a couple of days when I had the flu, I've been able to meditate every day. Somedays are easier than others but I've seen longer periods where I have no thoughts interrupting my silence. It's helped me let the small things go and appreciate the important things. I have a long way to go but a greater sense of peace is already happening for me.

My main goal for last year was to cook dinners myself more. My husband usually comes home from work and cooks something quick and easy, but I wanted to do more of the cooking so we could eat healthier food and he'd have less to worry about after working. I did pretty well with my cooking last year, but haven't been as good this year so far. I think it's because I'm getting bored with making the same things over and over. I'm looking for recipe inspiration in magazines and found a really good casserole to try next. I'm hoping it will turn out well and go over well with my family!

I'm sort of making progress on my goal to redo my studio a bit -- redid my bed with black wood contact paper which I think came out looking quite good and it looks better with my bedding, but I still need to get cracking on cleaning and tossing things I don't need.
