Summer is not over yet! Celebrate the last few days of the season by grilling your favorite meal at a Labor Day BBQ, family get-together or tailgating event. Read on for our 5 favorite tips to make the day sizzle.

Plus, enter our #GrillingGiveaway for the chance to win your choice of either a new portable grill or a $125 gift card to Omaha Steaks!

No Need for High-Tech Tools

It happens to all of us. You are ready to put your dinner on the grill when you realize you forgot to wash the grill brush and now everything is a sticky mess! Don't worry, you have two options. Either crumble up tin foil into a loose ball or cut an onion in half. Once the grill is warm, grab either the foil boil or the onion with your tongs and then brush away!

Flavor is Key

Whatever you are cooking, don't forget to marinade in advance. According to Jamie Purviance, grilling pro and author of Weber's Way to Grill: The Step-by-Step Guide to Expert Grilling, make sure your marinade has the right proportion of ingredients. "That means a little acid, like lemon juice, vinegar, or mango chutney, a little oil, and a whole bunch of good flavors. I usually start with a 1:3 ratio of acidity to oil, just like in salad dressings. The acidity tenderizes the food and contributes tanginess, while the oil provides moisture and richness."

Poke and Ice Your Burger

Have you ever put your raw burger on the grill, only to come back and it has become more baseball-shaped than burger patty? To avoid this newbie mistake, use your thumb (or the back of a spoon) to push a slight indent in the center of the burger before it is cooked. This will prevent it from puffing up. Chef Graham Elliot takes it one step further. He recommends putting an ice cube into the center of the burger to keep it moist.

Make Serving Low Mess

Use a muffin tin for toppings and condiments. According to Food Hacks Daily, you can avoid using multiple bowls by separating out your tomatoes, pickles and ketchup. Not only does it look super cute, but it will make sure the wind doesn't blow your bowl of onions into the air!

Don't Forget Dessert

Want delicious s'mores without having to sleep outside? No problem - you can cook them on the grill! Just make a graham-cracker-marshmellow-chocolate sandwich and wrap it in tin foil. Put your package on the grill over medium heat for around five minutes. Open your present slowly, and enjoy! For a fun addition, put toppings into the s'mores before grilling, such as peanut butter chips, sprinkles or berries. And to really change it up, slice open a banana the long way. Take out the banana and then fill the peel with mini-marshmallows, chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, chunks of fruit, or any other deliciousness you can think of. Wrap that up in the tin foil and throw it on the grill. Yum... a perfect way to end a summer celebration!

My husband and I will make foil packets filled with summer veggies and our favorite seasonings and cook it right alongside the meat. Saves on a mess in the kitchen and the taste is awesome!

Preheat your grill 15 to 25 minutes before you start cooking to make sure it reaches the right temperature (and to kill any bacteria). Your grill should be 400-450°F for high, 350-400°F for medium-high, 300-350°F for medium and 250-300°F for low heat. A properly heated grill sears foods on contact, keeps the insides moist and helps prevent sticking. While searing doesn't 'seal in? the juices (contrary to popular belief ), it does create improved flavors through caramelization.

Grilled Watermelon, yum! Brush both sides with your favorite olive oil. Grill each side for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with sea salt. Enjoy!

My favorite grilling tip is to use a paper towel with oil to coat the grill grates before cooking so food doesn't stick.

Grill salmon with the skin on. Cook skin side down. Skin will burn, but when the fish is cooked you can lift it out of the skin and it will moist and delicious.

I really like to grill, even on my gf grill in the house. The best tips I can give is (1) marinate your meat overnight (2) keep the grill at a medium heat and (3) using a campfire log is an efficient outdoor burner. I like to marinate as the flavor is able to soak through and if its grilled on a medium heat it will stay juicy and not dry out. I am not a fan of charcoal so I purchase a wood bundle and use one log. It seems the perfect size to cook food thoroughly and when your done you can roast marshmallows and/or put togehter some smores.

I already do the thumb in the middle of the burger tip. I definetly will try the ice cube in the center on the burger tip when we grill this labor day weekend. Oh and the onion to clean the grill....REALLY need to give this a try. Thank you for the chance!!
