2015's In-the-Moment Halloween Costume Trends and Giveaway

Each year we are introduced to a host of very in-the-moment costumes. Who can forget the Sarah Palin costumes of 2008 or last year’s parade of Orange is the New Black character costumes? 2015 appears to be a good year for topical humor halloween costumes, many of which were born right here on the internet.

Read on and enter to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card for a bit of Halloween costume shopping!

If we’re talking about being on trend, we can’t really have a 2015 Halloween without a Donald Trump costume. And apparently, even the Donald can be transformed into a suggestive costume complete with shorty-shorts, a red tie, a tiny jacket, and a pair of complimentary panties for some reason?

If you're a Star Wars fan, the reboot of the movie this year brings renewed interest in the francise. Dress up like Yoda or Dearth Vader, or of course Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and relive your youth.

At this point in 2015, you’ve probably become well acquainted with the ‘Pizza Rat” video that has gone viral on YouTube. (And if you haven’t, you should probably check it out right away). The video shows a New York subway rat heroically carrying a slice of pizza down some stairs. I know that doesn’t sound very sexy, but in true Halloween trend fashion costume designers have found a way to sex it up with a revealing rat dress featuring pizza pockets.

Mashable reports about ‘the dress’ costume that is making it’s way on Halloween goers this year. For just $46.95 you can start up the old debate at any Halloween party: “It’s white and gold!” Soon followed by a, “NO! IT’S BLUE AND BLACK!” The costume itself is a dress that is half white and gold and half blue and black. But apparently the actual dress is on sale if you want to be even more authentic to the dress debate.

The costumes I've been seeing haven't been very unique or creative. That's why I like to do my own thing for costumes. The gift card would definitely help make that happen.

These aren't that bad - but in general the costumes are getting way too "sexy" to use a nicer word than the one in my head. Halloween is fun and/or scary - not sexy!!! My son likes being video game characters - he's thinking Yoshi from the Mario Bros. series .... I will probably just dress as a witch. Not creative, but I already have the costume from last year, so makes it easy.

I think the costumes are very trendy, but I personally prefer more classic costumes. My daughter is going as a mermaid and my son will be batman!

I think the Donald trump outfit is good, I think considering he is running for office and many people make fun of him it will be a popular choice. I do not have an outfit picked out, I usually wait till the last minute or don't participate at all

Do not like these current costumes. I don't even get some of them! The mouse with pizza?? We are going as salt and pepper shakers that I handmade.

I think all the costumes are fun and lighthearted, I love seeing what other people choose to wear. I have not yet picked out my costume, but it will probably be a cat because i have a pretty cat mask from Halloween several years ago. my family likes animals, so we always pick a animal for a costume.

I think Caitlyn Jenner's costume is fun. But I'm not dressing up this year, so an LED flashing pumpkin necklace is the extent of my non-costume.

i think they are getting silly, and like someone else commented everything seems to be getting s "Sexy" makeover.i remember when halloween meant witches costumes and vampires not everything is low cut and more revealing. I decided to stay traditional when it comes to costumes, this year my family and I are going as the munsters. my kids recently saw the season 1 of the munsters on netflix.

We always go to Goodwill or the Salvation Army to find inspiration and cool stuff to create our costumes. It benefits others, as the proceeds from purchases go to good, local causes. Plus it makes us use our imaginations to find the perfect items to use to conjure up outfits.

I don't like the "sexy" costumes either. My husband and I are going to dress like minions this Halloween!

I absolutely LOVE the creativity that some people find this time of year. So, my favorite costumes are those that don't come out of a bag or from a costume store. And, while i'm sure there will be plenty of Donald Trump and Star Wars costumes in 2015, I would be thrilled to wear the blue/gold dress. That is hysterical and a "talker" that translates just perfectly to a real outfit. PERFECTION -- that is my favorite from above.

I dislike the "sexy" costumes completely. I wouldn't wear any of them. My kid wants to be a minion... So we're all going that route. Hubby is Gru, etc
