2015's In-the-Moment Halloween Costume Trends and Giveaway

Each year we are introduced to a host of very in-the-moment costumes. Who can forget the Sarah Palin costumes of 2008 or last year’s parade of Orange is the New Black character costumes? 2015 appears to be a good year for topical humor halloween costumes, many of which were born right here on the internet.

Read on and enter to win a $50 Amazon Gift Card for a bit of Halloween costume shopping!

If we’re talking about being on trend, we can’t really have a 2015 Halloween without a Donald Trump costume. And apparently, even the Donald can be transformed into a suggestive costume complete with shorty-shorts, a red tie, a tiny jacket, and a pair of complimentary panties for some reason?

If you're a Star Wars fan, the reboot of the movie this year brings renewed interest in the francise. Dress up like Yoda or Dearth Vader, or of course Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia and relive your youth.

At this point in 2015, you’ve probably become well acquainted with the ‘Pizza Rat” video that has gone viral on YouTube. (And if you haven’t, you should probably check it out right away). The video shows a New York subway rat heroically carrying a slice of pizza down some stairs. I know that doesn’t sound very sexy, but in true Halloween trend fashion costume designers have found a way to sex it up with a revealing rat dress featuring pizza pockets.

Mashable reports about ‘the dress’ costume that is making it’s way on Halloween goers this year. For just $46.95 you can start up the old debate at any Halloween party: “It’s white and gold!” Soon followed by a, “NO! IT’S BLUE AND BLACK!” The costume itself is a dress that is half white and gold and half blue and black. But apparently the actual dress is on sale if you want to be even more authentic to the dress debate.

I think some of this years costumes are really cute. I like the blue/black/white/gold dress costume. That was such a big debate for a while there. I'm going old school and making my own costume which will be a pirate. My grandson loves Pirates of the Carribean and I promised to dress up with him and make the costumes. He will be Capt. Jack Sparow and I will be a first mate.

I completely agree that making every costume "sexy" is getting ridiculous. This year I'm going as Han Solo, my husband as Anakin Skywalkwer, and my baby (named Anakin) will be Yoda. We're just a little bit Star Wars fanatics lol

These costumes are creative, but my family will be dressing as Peanut and Jelly sandwiches. We call out "peanut butter" when we get separated in public, the answering "jelly" reconnects us. So the costume seems to be a perfect fit.

I don't mind the sexy costumes....they have their locations, of course. They were super fun when I was single. I don't know about a sexy girl trump though...I'd worry about the men that are into that. Thanks to cousins...my little guy discovered Minecraft so he will be Steve and I'm working on getting my husband to be a Creeper and I'll be Enderman. The dog might be a spider. For work I'm going to be Rainbow Fish..from a story book. And we're going to an even where my son plans to be a Stormtrooper because wearing a Steve box on his head all night is too much for his daddy to handle....plus my husband really wants him to be something Starwars. No we dont have the moola for all of this and I plan to make as much of it as I can...so a gift card? Yes pretty please!

I'm not a fan of the overly sexualized costumes that have been coming out recently! Me and my family are dressing up as dc comic book characters!

My son is going to be a tiger. I'm not really into trendy costumes.

I think there are so many new costumes this year. Everything you can think of they have made a costume for it. I like it because there are more options and hopefully I will see more unique costumes on halloween. I have a costume picked out. I will be Sally from nightmare before christmas. I will be making it myself. Thanks for the chance.

I'm not a fan of the sexy costumes. I prefer creative or humorous costumes such as the minions.

I actually like all the Star Wars costumes that have come out this year. I would love to have the whole family dress up as different Star Wars characters

Since we are all Star Wars fans here at our house, anything Star Wars would be the preferred costume :) As for the Donald Trump costume..."complimentary panties?" WHY? The Dress costume is at least creative in a sense. It just looks to fit like a second skin so I'm out on that one, too.
