If you could help build a better community with just one change, what would you do? Knowing that not everyone has money to support the many causes they care about, Tom’s of Maine has created the 50 States for Good program!

As part of this year’s campaign, they’re inviting anyone to share their #OneWayToHelp their community for a chance to select a local nonprofit to receive funding. This year, Tom’s of Maine is awarding more funding than ever – more than $1 million in total – with $20,000 going to a nonprofit organization in every state and Washington D.C.!

My husband and I are already trying help the local children at our school and make a difference in their lives. When we volunteer in our children's classrooms, my husband and I will look around at the kids and take a mental note of the ones that have holes in their shoes, may not have a backpack or do not have the school supplies they need. We then try our best to covertly get shoe sizes or favorite characters and go out and purchase these items for the kids. I know the teachers really appreciate it and you can see from the children's faces how happy and proud they are to just "fit in" with the rest of the kids.

I'd like to help small towns have more expansive recycling programs that could handle not only aluminum and paper but also plastic and glass. With so many plastic bottles in my own household, keeping them out of landfills will reduce the size and numbers of those we have to have going forward.
