We all love to indulge in snacks every now and again. According to our recent survey, so do our children! How do people feel about snack foods and what kind of snacks are they providing their families? We were curious to hear more about SheSpeaks members' thoughts on this topic. We conducted a study recently and below are some of the key findings.

I agree! My kids snack too much. I try to have only fruit and veggies around for them to snack on. Popcorn is a healthy snack and we have that once a week.
My kids don't eat snacks very often, and when they do it is fruits or fresh veggies, nuts or yogurt. Keeping kids busy keeps their mind off food, and they are hungry enough at mealtime to eat properly. I do see a lot of kids walking around with a full bag of candy or some unidentifiable, grossly sweet, gooey mess; at least if you must feed your kids sugary things, teach them temperance by handing them one or two small candies rather than the whole bag, or cut that oversized cookie into fourths and give them one wedge. Most kids will eat simply because it is there - not having snacks and candy on hand means not having the option to ask for it. And parents must lead by example - stop YOUR snacking so kids don't feel that it is a normal part of every day life.
I buy all of my grand kids favorite fruits and veggies. I clean up all the veggies and fruit so it is ready when they ask for something. I don't even have the other processed foods around to offer, and they don't miss them.
My boys have Autism and are extremely picky eaters. One of them literally only has 10 different foods he will eat so I fall into a lot of these categories. I do my best to sneak in something healthy whenever possible and always supplement with vitamins and make sure they get a lot of physical activity everyday.
Sounds about right except only 30% feel guilty for giving their kids unhealthy snacks? Maybe if it were here and there but to do it all the time I would assume a mother would feel guilty as she would know it would not be good for them to do it in excess.
sometimes convenience wins.
I agree
That whole post pretty mush sums up how I feel all the time.
I'm guilty! I really want healthy snacks for my child but when you're running from one place to the other it's so much easier to grab a bag of goldfish! :(
I'm not surprised by this.
I agree with these numbers.
I'm a busy mom so anything to make my life easier is worth it.
I am surprised that only 30% of moms feel guilty about giving their kids unhealthy snacks...I am one of those who always feels guilty. Thanks for sharing the results!
I try to be careful but there are days when the wrongsnacks are choosen
Snack packs are a great invention! I agree that we use these a lot because they are convenient, appropriate serving sizes and in good packaging to keep them fresh. My son loves fruit, but, I do wish he would eat more vegetables without me having to sneak them into foods.
