School is an important rite of passage for everyone. To some kids it's fun and exciting, to others it's a boring daily routine; and at both their favorite and most despised place. But those of us who have been out of school, we know that school days are the best times of your life!

What’s your favorite school memory? A teacher? Recess? Your classroom crush? Back-to-school shopping? Playing team sports?

“I remember, on my first day of Kindergarden I was extremely nervous to take the bus for the first time. I sat right in the front, but when my older (and not always inclusive) brother boarded the bus, he took my hand and led me to the back to sit with him and his friends informing me that the back of the bus was "where the cool kids sat." I definitely needed that boost!" - Amy

"In the 4th grade I transferred to a new K-8 Catholic school. The uniforms (plaid jumpers) from both schools were so similar that my mom refused to order a new pair for me. Needless to say my plaid jumper stuck out from everyone else's until about the 7th grade!" - Theresa

"My family and I would always have a back to school dinner before the school year started." - John

"One of my favorite back-to-school memories is not actually going back to school but looking at the first day of school pictures months and years later - the kids are so cute and the new backpack for school always looks so crisp and ready for a new year of adventures!" - Ann

“My favorite part of going back to school was always shopping for school supplies. Being the nerd that I am, I loved having fresh notebooks and pens! Supplies shopping may have been my favorite part of summer.” - Emily

“I remember taking a picture with a group of friends at a “back-to-school” picnic hosted by the College. We weren’t told that the picture was going to be used for various marketing pieces for the school. So we were surprised to find that picture in every poster, view book and marketing material the entire time we were there. I was always recognized as the “poster-child” by people, but it really was a great picture that made for great marketing!” – Christine

My fondest memory is back to school shopping. There is nothing like getting your classroom assignment in the mail along with a list of needed school supplies. Nothing makes you feel more organized and prepared for the year ahead like new notebooks, folders, and pens. I still love looking at the Sunday ads for all the deals! I still buy myself new pens and paper and feel refreshed like I did as a kid!

My favorite school memory was when I was a senior in high school (It was my first year at that school). I had just discovered how much I loved to paint and how good I was at it. I was given the job of overseeing a wall by the school office that we were painting with all our clubs' logos. People I never talked to before were congratulating me and complimenting my work as they went by to their classes. I met so many people. It was a great way to start at a new school and to end my senior year. Everyone knew my name and was really friendly to me. It was awesome!

My most memorable school memory is going to the Senior prom which was back in 1986. I wore my Joan Collins pink iridescence dress with a white veil and kitten heels. I called it the Joan Collins dress because of how popular the show Dynasty was in the 1980's. The sleeves were puffed out and the outfit was very lovely especially for a tomboy like me! My date was a friend from the old neighborhood and I got to share a limo with one of my best friends.

I loved the smell of the thick paper in our phonics workbooks. They were the perforated sheets that you pull out. I remember that smell and don't think I've smelled it since!!!!

My favorite back to school memory is that my best friend and I would get together and pick out our outfit and shoes and how we were going to wear our hair the first day back to school every year. It was so fun!! And of course seeing all of my friends everyday was great too!

I am a school supply junkie! I have very fond memories of getting my Trapper Keeper for fifth grade. I loved that thing more than any other item I ever took to school. I just looked on Ebay and these are selling for bib bucks!! I should have kept mine all these years. Who knew they would be worth $$$?!?

Some of my favorite memories is hanging out before school started or at lunchtime with friends. That's where we would be able to talk about what was going on in our lives and school related things!

My favorite school memory is yearbook class. Our teacher was a rite of passage who had been in charge of the yearbook for as long as one could remember. She somehow managed to give us the perfect amount of freedom while at the same time motivating us to meet deadlines. Now I find myself back at the school I graduated from, trying to fill her shoes. I know now, just how hard she worked!

My favorite school memory is of getting a new square metal lunchbox every year. Once I had a Smurfs lunchbox (long before there was a Smurfs movie). I was always so excited for lunchtime to open my cartoonish lunchbox. That, of course, was also long before I started counting calories (something that has plagued my adulthood), so lunch was a carefree time!

My favorite school memory is of me going to my first day of Kindergarten. My teacher's name was Mrs. Store. What a great name for a teacher! My Father (who is now deceased), brought me and he gave me a pack of Wrigley's Spearmint Gum. I was a shy kid and I remember him holding my hand and walking me into the class room. I also remember a girl Kicking and Screaming at the door, because she did not want to come in. It was a great day and I had a good time.

I grew up in middle America, so when a major Hollywood film was shot at our high school it was major excitement. Many students were used as extras and it was a very fun experience.

One of my favorite memories from school was when my teacher saw that I was having a bad day. She took me out into the hallway during recess and talked to me. She told me a few stories of when she was a child and spent time trying to make me feel better. That was a difficult year for me, but she made being at school a positive experience and something to look forward to each morning. She was and still is one of my favorite teachers.

My favorite school memory was every year being excited to go school shopping and deciding what I would wear on the first day of school!
