School is an important rite of passage for everyone. To some kids it's fun and exciting, to others it's a boring daily routine; and at both their favorite and most despised place. But those of us who have been out of school, we know that school days are the best times of your life!

What’s your favorite school memory? A teacher? Recess? Your classroom crush? Back-to-school shopping? Playing team sports?

To get you started, here are favorite school memories from the team at SheSpeaks, and a few other notable people we like.

“I remember, on my first day of Kindergarden I was extremely nervous to take the bus for the first time. I sat right in the front, but when my older (and not always inclusive) brother boarded the bus, he took my hand and led me to the back to sit with him and his friends informing me that the back of the bus was "where the cool kids sat." I definitely needed that boost!" - Amy

"In the 4th grade I transferred to a new K-8 Catholic school. The uniforms (plaid jumpers) from both schools were so similar that my mom refused to order a new pair for me. Needless to say my plaid jumper stuck out from everyone else's until about the 7th grade!" - Theresa

"My family and I would always have a back to school dinner before the school year started." - John

"One of my favorite back-to-school memories is not actually going back to school but looking at the first day of school pictures months and years later - the kids are so cute and the new backpack for school always looks so crisp and ready for a new year of adventures!" - Ann

“My favorite part of going back to school was always shopping for school supplies. Being the nerd that I am, I loved having fresh notebooks and pens! Supplies shopping may have been my favorite part of summer.” - Emily

“I remember taking a picture with a group of friends at a “back-to-school” picnic hosted by the College. We weren’t told that the picture was going to be used for various marketing pieces for the school. So we were surprised to find that picture in every poster, view book and marketing material the entire time we were there. I was always recognized as the “poster-child” by people, but it really was a great picture that made for great marketing!” – Christine

Back to school shopping is the only fond memory I have. I was a shy kid and hated school.

It was my first year of H.S,at a challenging school, and I was nervous.I walked into my first Spanish class, found a seat and I sat down quietly. In walks a short latina, thin, with short black hair. She wrote her name on the blackboard without saying a word....Carmen Rosa. She smiles and begins talking to us completely in SPANISH! We sat there listening to her speak the hour in shock. When the bell rang,I asked a guy if this was how this class was going to be."I don't know",he said. I walked into Spanish class again the next day.I was dreading it.I didn't even know if she spoke English! I sat down again. She walked in and I held my breath."Good morning everyone",she said, '' Today we're going to learn the Spanish alphabet and its pronunciation" I smiled and opened my binder. The rest of the first year in Spanish class was excellent! It soon became my favorite class and she was my favorite teacher I ever had.

My best memory in school, wow, that's hard because I'm thinking of some of my best moments between high school and college. Thoe are the years in which I found myself, I learned about who I was, what I wanted to be and made the steps needed to get there. Looking back, I would say that my foundation of adulthood was built in high school. it was there, where I met the man who is now the love of my life, we didn't really talk back then, but 8 years later we linked up due to having mutual friends. High school was also where I met a strong part of my support system, my best friends who are now more like my extended family members. My greatest school moment would have to be walking across the stage in high school, knowing that many of my closest friends were going along with me on my journey to college. It was that day, when my life began and I truly became my true self.

My favorite back to school memories are the ones of me walking into school with my new EVERYTHING on, ready to meet new friends. Now, as a mom, my favorite back to school memories are meet-the-teacher nights when my boys get so excited to see their friends again after a long summer apart.

One of my favorite memories of school was in high school. I started dating my now husband in 9th grade. I remember walking into school in the morning and he was always there, waiting for me, with a smile on his face like I was the best thing in the world that ever happened to him.

I loved all of the new supplies. The fresh clean sheets of paper, the newly sharpened pencils. How the crayons weren't yet smudged and the markers still had their color. The sheen of the hard plastic pencil case. The feeling that somehow with a new paper and pen in hand you were starting anew on your way to your best self.

My favorite school memory is seeing my best friend on the first day of school. Just being with her helped ease my first day of school jitters.

One of my favorite school memoriesis when I was in 3rd or 4th grade our teacher needed to send a message to the kindergarted class. I volunteered since my little brother was in that class. When I walked into the kindergarten class to hand the teacher the message my little brother saw me and came running up to me and grabbed on to my leg and would not let go. Since it was the 1st week of school he was understandably scared and nervous. I felt so bad having to leave him crying but at the same time It felt good knowing that my baby brother loved and needed his big sister!

The very first day of first grade. It's when I met my best friend Shelly. She was crying when her mother brought her into class the first day.....her mom saw me and told her...."See that girl over there with the long hair, sit next to her she looks nice!"......best buds ever since

My favorite school memory is that on the first day of school every year, my mom would take a photo of me. It always was such a fun thing for us to do and a rite of passage so to speak. It is fun to go through them as an adult and watch myself grow each year!

I loved the first day back to school. Seeing what friends were in my class from the previous year, if I recognized my teacher, sitting in a new desk, embracing a new classroom. The newness of the first day back always gave me butterflies in my stomach, with equal parts excitement and wonder.

My favorite school memory was participating in my French Club food sale. We had so much fun making French food and best of all, everyone like my Croque Monsiers. And now of course, I am hungry for one :).
