What Is Your Favorite School Memory?

My 3rd grade teacher Ms. Cook was an older teacher who really wanted to get her kids to love reading. She set up an old claw foot bathtub in her classroom that sat on a rainbow throw rug and even had a clear shower curtain. The bottom of the tub had been fitted with a foam bottom that had fabric of books all over it and tons of throw pillows. The first 2 kids who finished their classwork correctly could go sit in the tub and read until the next assignment was going to start. I always tried to make sure I got in that tub once a day to read, and I feel that experience was when I first fell in love with reading for fun! Even though I graduated high school 20 years ago, I still can picture that classroom in my mind.

My favorite memory was meeting friends in Mrs. H's room before school and just hanging out.

I went to a private girls' school and wore a uniform from 1st grade to 8th grade. In 9th grade I transferred to a public, co-ed high school and I was so excited to finally have "own clothes day" every day! Unfortunately high school is such an awkward time... as it happened, I ended up really missing the uniform (and I'm sure my mom missed all the money she saved on clothes for me!). I didn't really appreciate the close-knit girls' school environment until I left!

I don't remember it, but my mom always tells my kids. It was my first day of Pre-K, I did not want to stay in School, I started crying as soon as I step I the School. Next day I went to School crying and as soon as I saw my favorite teacher I hold on to here hand, but still crying. This went for couple of weeks. The funny part is when it was parent teacher conference, my teacher said to my mom that your daughter is so cute and quiet, but she was surprised when I took the chair to open the top lock to get out of the door. My parents were shocked as I am very quiet and shy kid.Even couple year back when I saw her in the mall she was telling the story to my kids. It is one of my favorite memory.

One of my favorite school memories was attending homecoming with my high school crush. Being asked to the dance via a mix tape (it was the early 90s, after all!), the preparations, the outfit planning, the build-up to the day.... it was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. It paid off in the end, though, since he became my husband 7 years later!

In college, while living in the dorms...I was showering on the night of my birthday; my roommate and several other friends snuck in the shower and poured a 5-gallon bucket of ice water over my head....I came running out, screaming of course, only to find a surprise birthday party, that was starting in the bathroom. The had a huge party planned for me, and it was a total surprise, and it was great. I was 1,600 miles from home, so it really made me feel special and cared for that these girls/young ladies cared enough to go through all of this trouble for me. Over the years we've all gone our separate ways, but many of these women are still people I proudly call my friends. It is a wonderful memory.

My favorite school memory was finding out which classes and teachers I had and comparing my schedule with my friends, we waited all summer to find that out!

My favorite school memory, although I don't personally remember it, but my mom does and always reminds me, is my very first day in Kindergarten. My mom took me to school and I did not want to stay so, I started crying and fighting at the teacher. The real funny part of this story is that I ran into that teacher about 10 years ago and she stil remembered me and that 1st day, I was 40 yrs old then.

I always loved going school shopping when I was little. We didn't have much money growing up, but Mom and Dad always made sure to save enough money for the things we needed. My sister and I would each get a few outfits, socks and underwear. Then the next day our grandparents, who lived nearby, would come over. Dad and Grandpa would sit in the kitchen and talk, Mom and Grandma would sit in the living room and watch my sister and I give a fashion show with our new clothes.
