Enter Our Giveaway by Sharing How You Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle

Many people think their everyday actions are ordinary, and that the things they do every day can’t make a difference to help the environment. P&G believes the most effective changes don’t necessarily start with grand acts and can start much closer to home, by changing the way we think about things like waste.

Our members have told us that they:

  • “Reuse egg cartons to start new plants for our garden”
  • “Reuse jars to store odd supplies like, nails, nuts, and bolts”
  • “Use office paper for art, water plants with bathwater, compost, and have a small garden”

How to Enter:

We recycle everything we can, including lots of paper, junk mail, magazines and catalogs. We also reuse copy paper in the printer (if the info on the front of the page is no longer needed, we flip it over and print things like coupons on the back). We reuse most of our plastic and aluminum restaurant containers, too.

My students participate in a program called future cities. In this program they have to build a city made out of recycled materials. So, every year I save up every odd shaped container I can and my students use their imaginations and turn theme into spectacular cities. My son also makes all sorts of things out of recycled materials even though he has a playroom full of toys. In a world of instant gratification and too much time in front of a video screen, I love to see their minds create.

I live in a one-bedroom apartment. Whenever I buy carbonate soda cans from supermarkets and getting plastic bags and later drink soda every week, I would save up empty cans to store them in my patio storage. I would keep plastic bags to use for as a garbage bag on my little trash can in the bathroom and use other plastic bags to store smelly or wasted food to eliminate odors and drop them in my kitchen trash can.

We try to make differences everyday by reusing milk jugs, egg cartons, spray bottles etc. We also recycle as well and we try to reduce the electricity we use by making sure lights are turned off and we don't leave the water running while brushing teeth etc, we try to make it a family goal to make the planet healthy!

We use a Sodastream to make our own seltzer - to eliminate plastic bottles from accumulating. Like others we also use egg cartons for our starter plants ang glass jars to store many thing - paper clips, nails, even q- tips!

Steps that my family take to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle are using recycling bins throughout our home, reducing water usage during showers, washing laundry, and cooking. We also watch the labels of items that we buy to select only green products, and we are also mindful of power usage in our home by using energy-efficient bulbs and appliances, and unplugging items that are not in use.
