In recent years researchers and scientists have been aiming at finding better ways to detect the first signs of breast cancer. Mammograms are not always effective in diagnosing breast cancer and according to a CBS News report they actually misdiagnose patients in up to 30 percent of cases.

A new diagnostic tool now in the works has the potential to alert doctors to the growth of abnormal breast tissue earlier than ever before. The device in development is actually a bra women can wear that will continually examine their breasts as they go about daily activities.

According to the company developing the detection bra, First Warning Systems, the bra can detect tumors before a self-exam or mammogram. The bra, which contains no radiation, is non-invasive and carries no toxins will be warn under doctor’s orders for about 12 hours to accurately detect abnormalities in breast tissue. The bra uses sensors that detect temperature fluctuations and pattern recognition software to do the job of detecting tumors and abnormal beast tissue.

So far clinical trials of the product have been a success and the creators of the bra have reported than when and if it is approved by the FDA, this type of exam should cost a patient no more than $25. The breast cancer detection bra is expected to be released for use in Europe next year and may hit the U.S. market by 2014.

What do you think of this new product in development that is said to be more effective at diagnosing early onset of breast cancer?

Would you be willing to try a diagnostic tool like this bra rather than a mammogram at your next doctor’s appointment?

Wow! This is awesome. I would definitely try this. Myself a breast cancer survivor, I get mammogams every 6 months, would be so much more comfortable.

This bra is amazing! My mom is a breast cancer survivor & when this bra hits the U.S, I'm definitely getting her one. She's had a mastectomy on one side and she says that it's painful when she still goes for her exams, so this is a blessing in disguise! I also had a little scare when Drs. found a lump on one of my breasts. The biopsy was so painful and still remains sensitive that out of fear of having another one done, I will definitely purchase one for myself as well! I do thank God that my tests came back negative and no cancer was found! This bra would literally be a life-saver!

yes, I certainly would try this instead of a mamogram...what a wonderful way to detect and possibly prevent breast cancer...now if only they could create a garment to detect ovarian cancer before it is too far advanced

I NEED this bra. My mom had a double mastectomy due to breast cancer. So this would be a good cancer detector for me. I have fibrocysts in my breasts and can't tell the benign fibrocysts from tumors when doing self-exams. So this bra would be a God send for me. Why is is taking so long for a USA release?

This is a wonderful idea! I would try it. I would also have my mom try it! She doesn't like mammograms!

I had seven mammagrams in 10 months. The first was the annual. The second was a repeat in a week. The third was in six months. The fourth two weeks later for guided core static biopsie. The fith was to verify metal clip left in breast for placement of biopsie. The sixth was done to provide a guide wire for the surgin because the metal clip moved. The seventh was fall a second lump found after a fall. That's seven douses of radiation to a very small petite elderly woman! I would try the bra.

I would have to say that it would be a great idea if it can do all it says. but I think like with everything you still have to do some self checking also. And always remember that no way is perfect.
