Yes, holiday party season is here!  Whether it's a staff party, class event, playgroup or neighborhood cookie swap the chances are you are going to be at a party this holiday season.  It's always a challenge to strike the right style for each occasion. We all try to get the right balance of glitzy glamour and cool casual style.  With so many new trends and styles to try the holiday season is an inspiring time for bringing out your personal style. Maybe you can rock a new eye shadow, bold lips in classic deep reds, or glamorous purple nails, it's fun to develop a signature style that makes them shimmer for the holiday season

When you're busy getting ready for a party, putting your style together, what kind of music inspires you.  Do you listen to holiday music or some of today's chart toppers?  Are you dedicated to one or two artists or do you have a varied playlist? How about party music, do you have some favorites that really get your party started?  We'd love to hear your tips and favorites for festive tunes.

Holiday style is about adding a little something extra some bling, sparkle or a teensy bit of drama. Take advantage of the bold holiday colors to bring a pop of color into your normal routine. Here are some ideas:

  • Try a new color eye shadow - green, yellow, purple or blue – and finish with a black rimmed liner
  • Turn heads with a matte purple lipstick
  • Have your nails be your accessory - try a pale gray or a deep sapphire
  • Bring radiance to your face with a little sweep of bronzer
  • Try adding curl to your hair where you usually go straight
  • And accessories, rings, bling scarves and bracelets can bring together your look

When you want to add some sparkle and inspiration to your holiday style, what do you use?

To be entered to win one of our prizes this week, simply create a review of your favorite style or beauty product or a music review in our SheSpeaks product reviews.  We love to hear all your recommendations for adding a little extra sparkle to holiday parties this year.

thanks IDJmomofthree, I'm going to check out Laura Gellers products. The little black dress always works for New Year's Eve. It's classic. To dress it up I just add jewelry in jewel tones or metallics. Nice coat, sexy shoes, makeup and hair a little "bolder" than usual, but still tasteful. I don't worry as much about accessories as I do THE DRESS and THE SHOES!!

This is definitely the time for a self tanner with a bronser that shimmers. Revlon has an amazing one that I love to wear now - gives you a great glow when everyone else is looking pasty!

I tend to wear blue to holiday parties, blues looks good with my coloring. Silver jewelry lends a slightly glittery look to my outfit.

I never have anywere to go even for the holidays so my boys and I like to make it a big thing just for us in our home. We do not have much but , I like to paint my nails with a holiday red and then I add little sparkles on with glue. It givesthem some major BLING!! I have glued some little gems on shoes and other acessories besides my nails. It makes it seem more of a holiday for my kids and I being alone and on welfare , we have to do what we can to make it merry.

To make your skin soft silky while skin is still damp I like to use baby oil then pat dry. After I use Urban Decay Body Powder on shoulders chest & arms for a sparkle and it smells yummy. The face start with primer wait a few minutes to set add a few drops of Smashbox Luminizer to my foundation &blend, add a little to upper cheek bones, under nose right above lip & set with finishing powder .Eyes prime the lids apply gold shadow extend a little to the corners closest to my nose which helps give a brighter look..line the inner rim with a champagne liner then any shade of blue the the rim on the outter corner..line the bottom outside with a little gold or silver .line top lid with a black liner add lots of masacra.Lips soft pink lipstick and top the center with a little golden gloss (actually anycolor lipstick with a little gloss in the center in a golden shade will work) blush I love Laura Gellers Bronze and brighten as they come in combos of pinks, mixed with golds DONE

Tis the season to ...SPARKE!! I mean really who doesn't love something glittery and bright? I know I do. And to show that I'm definitely in the spirit I love to spruce up my holiday style by wearing a dash of glitter over my eyeshadow and glitter nail polish. A little touch of glitter never hurt anyone and just that small amount makes you look festive and bright w/o being over done. I've always heard that women shouldn't wear glitter but if done in the right fashion glitter can be pulled off by anyone. Besides other than hot chocolate with tons of marshmallows - glitter makes me happy. Maybe i was a fairy in my former life (shrugs).

This year I get to wear my new little black dress I bought after the holidays last year for MUCH cheaper than it was prior to the holidays!! It is a classy black dress with a little hint of sparkle to it! I am going to pair it up with a holiday scarf to add a bit of color & I will be using some of the new crackle nail polish over a deep red polish & wear my black heels to complete my outfit!! I am excited to finally be able to wear my new dress & I cannot wait to see my husbands reaction when I am all dressed!! He is going to LOVE it!!!

I love music. When I was growing up my parents listened to Motown music. The music that always make me good and sends shivers up my spine, would have to be Otis Redding. HIs voice and music always gets me. I especially love "That's how strong my love is" and "Try a little tenderness" On the other side of the spectrum I also love Ryan Bingham. He has got a great country, folk, rock voice. So if anyone wants to listen to something different I recommend these two.

To spruce up my holiday style I will add a light shimmer powder to any exposed limbs and add longer then I usually wear silver dangle earrings. For my face, I use a shimmer, not glitter, eye shadow to my lower lid and highlight with a light neutral shade.

I know a lot of people wear black around this time of the year. What I do when I wear black or neutral colors, like creme, is wear a colored eyeliner (I use liquid). The colors of choice for me are teals and golds. It just gives your eyes some pop to them. On other days when I don't wear brighter eyeliner, I will use a sparkly/shimmery eyeshadow (lighter colors usually like a pearlescent) and dab it on the inside corners of my eyes to make them light up. I love this technique.

Sparkly body lotion! It doesn't sound like much, but adds a little fun and takes care of my dry skin.
