Yes, holiday party season is here!  Whether it's a staff party, class event, playgroup or neighborhood cookie swap the chances are you are going to be at a party this holiday season.  It's always a challenge to strike the right style for each occasion. We all try to get the right balance of glitzy glamour and cool casual style.  With so many new trends and styles to try the holiday season is an inspiring time for bringing out your personal style. Maybe you can rock a new eye shadow, bold lips in classic deep reds, or glamorous purple nails, it's fun to develop a signature style that makes them shimmer for the holiday season

When you're busy getting ready for a party, putting your style together, what kind of music inspires you.  Do you listen to holiday music or some of today's chart toppers?  Are you dedicated to one or two artists or do you have a varied playlist? How about party music, do you have some favorites that really get your party started?  We'd love to hear your tips and favorites for festive tunes.

Holiday style is about adding a little something extra some bling, sparkle or a teensy bit of drama. Take advantage of the bold holiday colors to bring a pop of color into your normal routine. Here are some ideas:

  • Try a new color eye shadow - green, yellow, purple or blue – and finish with a black rimmed liner
  • Turn heads with a matte purple lipstick
  • Have your nails be your accessory - try a pale gray or a deep sapphire
  • Bring radiance to your face with a little sweep of bronzer
  • Try adding curl to your hair where you usually go straight
  • And accessories, rings, bling scarves and bracelets can bring together your look

When you want to add some sparkle and inspiration to your holiday style, what do you use?

To be entered to win one of our prizes this week, simply create a review of your favorite style or beauty product or a music review in our SheSpeaks product reviews.  We love to hear all your recommendations for adding a little extra sparkle to holiday parties this year.

I love to wear Laura Geller Body Frosting on my skin, it gives me just the right shimmer and glow and is so easy to apply. I put it on my shoulders, arms, legs everywhere I need a little glow.

My favorite thing about dressing up for the holidays is to do something really fun with my finger nails. Sometimes it's little Christmas trees and for an elegant event, just addiing a little design and some sparkle to the ring finger is perfect.

Wear something bright with lots of bling on it. I got my daughter a cute dress from Fashion Playtes with sequins around the sleeve and bottom of the dress. It's simple, but looks amazing with a pair of sparkly tights.

When I want to "sparkle" I avoid glitter because I tend to have oily skin. Instead, I use small touches, like green-tinted mascara, and use bright red lipstick, as well as my normal routine. I might alternate red/green or paint the tips red and the rest of the nail green. I generally wear red and green to keep with the theme.

I love wearing black or a charcoal grey. During the holidays, I spruce up my look by applying glitter mascara to my eyelashes and use a glitter eyeliner and eye shadow. I will use a little shimmer powder too.. I found a hair and body spray and Victoria Secrets that I LOVE! I don't use it in my hair but I use it in my daughter's hair. I make sure the girls are always in sparkle dresses.

Good smelling holiday lotion like what they carry at Bath and Body works Christmas collection like Noel etc. It reminds me of the smells of childhood. Smelling good is such a big part of my beauty routine. When you smell good you feel good about yourself.

For the holidays I love to use sparkle to get in to the spirit! How, you may ask? Bath and Body Works Shimmer Lotion in Japanese Cherry Blossom. Not only do you get the amazing scent, but you get a nice glimmer from the shimmer in the lotion :)

Hmmm. Holiday Sparkle. Well it is such a crazy time of the year with balancing the hoildays and work so I like to keep things simple. Quick and simple. To add a little sparkle to my Holiday attire I like to add a little shine. A quick and easy way to add a little glitter is to use Sally Hansens Salon effets nail polish strips. They have christmas themed nail polish strips and if you are not that bold they have pink and sliver glitter too. Shiney nails and a simple black dress and you are done. The set of nails strips come in a 16 count, the kit has everything you need to put the nails on and file them too. There is no dry time, which is awesome, you peel, stick, file and go. Instant glamour. The nails cost about 7 bucks, and last a few days. Heres a tip, I would sugguest if you have time to put a clear coat on the nails because if you are hands on and wash dishes the polish will wear. Enjoy.

People are so gracious this time of year and they always notice when something is different about me. So this year I plan to go all out with a completely new look. It will entail a hair cut into a short pixie kind of style, and a new hair color -- a warm, chestnut brown. Bright gold earrings, a bit of bronze or a smoky gray eyeshadow, a touch of ruby lipstick, and a nice warm scarf to match my outfit, will round things out just about right. I'm so excited, I almost can't stand it!

i like to add some shimmer to my eye make up. i also wear lip gloss over over my lipstick for some extra shine ( loooove mary kay!) and i agree with bchicobraun - self tanning lotion is must! nothing like being pasty white in a cute black dress.
