Share Your Holiday Traditions to Win

There are plenty of signs that the holidays are coming.  The nights get darker earlier, the weather starts to get colder and in some parts of the country it's already snowing. City streets are decorated with lights and garlands and store windows are embossed with snowy scenes.  With Thanksgiving now passed, how do you make the holidays fun and keep the spirit running through the end of the year?

For many of us the holidays is a time when we return to a childhood feeling but there is always opportunity to introduce a new tradition for you and your family.  What do you like to do to make this time of year special?  It's so much fun to go out for coffee or have wine with old friends or perhaps you go ice skating or take winter walk.  If you love crafts or cooking there's such a huge variety of fabulous recipes and projects you can make and thanks to the internet the new and creative ideas for the holidays are endless.  For some of us, making popcorn, kicking back and watching a family movie is the perfect way to spend family time together.

We'd like to hear your favorite, most creative or best loved holiday tradition or a review of your favorite holiday movie.

To be entered to win one of our prizes this week, simply create a review for a holiday movie or share your holiday traditions in the comment section below.  Maybe you'll get some ideas to add to your family favorites this year!

My tradition that I've been doing for years is baking a bunch of different types of x-mas cookies and giving them to friends, family and neighbors. I have already been stockpiling ingredients from Costco and need to get started on my doughs in the next week. Neighbors and family have already let me know that they are looking forward to their annual tin of cookies and I look forward to giving something that is truly enjoyed. And for movies, I really liked the movie Bad Santa, even though their was some violence, I found it humorous and still remember the chubby boy offering to make sandwiches for Santa. I also love When Harry Met Sally and the x-mas and New Year's Eve scenes. I agree with others about Elf too, that's a cute movie too.

My favorite christmas was last year. My mom was still with us. This year she will not be with us since she passed this sunday on the 4th. But all the holidays are good as long as we have our loved ones with us, that is all that matter!!

Our tradition is on Christmas Eve, I make two or three different kinds of soup. Then the family comes over. We eat, visit, and open presents. The little ones get so excited!

Every single year my parents, my 3 cousins and myself all load up in the car the week of Christmas and drive around for hours just looking at Christmas lights! It is soooo much fun and a great time for us all to get together. We always stop for a quick drive through snack, joke, laugh, and have a ton of fun! I look forward to it every single year!

When my three children were small I would reserve one gift for each child to be given after dinner on christmas day. This way the surprises lasted all day.

I attended a Christmas concert with a friend last night, and will again with my mom and a sister this weekend. The sounds of live music - lovely voices and talented musicians - put me in the right spirit for the season!

When I was a child my mother and grandmother always read the story of the birth of Jesus Christ before We could open our presents So that We would always remember the true meaning of Christmas. I do that with my children also. I will do the same with my grandchildren.

One tradition we have is all my siblings with their family and kids meet up at our parents house and just as we did when we were children decorate my parents Christmas tree together. The grandkids obviously getting to decorate the most, but we all have a hand in it while drinking hot chocolate!

We have always gave unique fork gifts for the last 25 or 30 years ever since my grandpa passed away. There was a lot of love in his house, but it was always hard to find a good fork to eat with, they were bent and old and when he passed away, my cousins and I started the fork tradition. We even had the old fork that nobody wanted to eat with put on a plaque with my grandpas picture. Each year we give each other a unique handmade fork gift. They have included fork earrings, fork candle holders, fork keychains and many many more over the years. We always look forward to getting the gift and seeing what kind of idea the other one has came up with and when Christmas is over, we start thinking about what we are going to make for the next year. It's been great!!

My favorite holiday tradition is decorating Christmas cookies with my boys. IT is so much fun seeing what they create and what they like. Last year, my youngest would not put frosting on the cookies, just decorations which would fall off quickly. But he was happy and having fun. My oldest was precise with his decorating. I am looking forward to this year, and seeing what they do differently this year.

We have many traditions that I enjoy. One of my favorite, and my little kids favorite, is making a birthday cake and singing "Happy Birthday, Jesus" before we eat Christmas dinner.

Me and my cousins have been giving fork gifts for the last 30 years, ever since my Grandpa passed away. They fix a fork gift for us and we fix one for them. It all started at my grandpas years ago. There was a lot of love in their house, but when it came time to eat, all he had was old forks, they were bent and we were always looking for a good fork to eat with and when he passed away, we started the fork gifts and kept that one special fork that was so messed up to always pass around also. We even put it on a plaque with my grandpas picture. Some of the fork gifts have included fork earrings, fork keychains, fork candle holders, and many many more over the years. Each gift was handmade and unique. It has been so much fun and we always look forward to it. Soon as Christmas is over, we start thinking and planning for the next one.

Every year my mom buys a Honey baked Ham for our dinner and we eat it with appetizers and rolls. I look forward to it every Christmas because it is so good and the only time of year I eat it!
