Who says a time out should only be for children?
Jokes aside, a few minutes a day to disconnect and clear our minds is priceless. The opportunity to take a few breaths, relax our shoulders and just sit still can be exactly what we need to recharge and finish the day with excitement and a smile on our face.
It's easier said than done, we know! Crazy schedules, friends, children, spouses, and not to mention today's technology almost always keeps you connected to something or someone. But the benefits of finding that time, even just for a few minutes, can make you feel like a whole new person, like your old self again, maybe even like superwoman.
Research has shown (and supporters can attest) that a little time and effort can go a long way. Practicing yoga, stretching, meditating and running a nice bubble bath are just a few methods of how we can disconnect, and relax. But you, our members, are really the experts. You're the multi-tasking gurus. You're the working professional, stay-at-home mom and party planner all wrapped into one and you do it day after day.
So we want to know, how do you do it ALL and still find time to disconnect? How do you find a few minutes a day or every couple of days for "Me Time" to rejuvenate your mind and body? Do you have help, set the calendar, or stick to a routine or are you self-aware and just know when it's time to retreat on your own. Do you find it's easy to put down your cell phone or does someone else unravel your fingers from the keyboard?
Share your experience with us by posting how you disconnect and how you reflect, and you'll be entered to Win 1 of 5 cool relaxation gadgets. While many relaxation methods can be done with only a few minutes of peace and quiet, we wanted to compile some cool gadgets to help inspire you to find those few minutes a day for yourself.

I have really begun to enjoy a new pre bedtime ritual. Around bedtime I will get in bed with my husband and while he will turn on the TV to unwind...I will put in my Ipod and listen to a Sleep set of music. It is about 5 songs that last 50 minutes long. I wake up and feel very refreshed the next day. It is a much better alternative to me than watching TV or having a glass of wine..which are my other ways to relax!
I like to take some time and do some deep breathing. I learned it during my hypno-birthing classes. It really helps me.
After I put the kids to bed I take a nice warm bubble bath to unwind from my day.
Every night after supper I take a nice hot bubble bath. It is the perfect way to unwind after a long day.
On my drive home from my stressful job at a hospital, I tune into soft jazz and unwind before coming home for an active evening with my family! The sound of the saxophone or the steel guitar can do wonders in clearing my mind.
Sometimes I put on music (whatever I'm in the mood for) and just move my muscles to get the kinks out. On the days that I am more weary, I close the door to my bedroom and lay on a heat pad for a few minutes and melt away the soreness and worries.
What really helps me relax is taking a nice warm bubble bath with a good book or magazine and a glass of wine. Perfect alone and quiet time! And now that the weather is getting chilly its even more relaxing to soak in a warm bath :)
3 days a week, before the kids get up, I go to my boot camp class! I know it sounds funny, but it is my time to get away and destress before the day begins! I LOVE it!
Most days, I CAN'T do it all. Instead of dwelling on it, I relax. If I get myself all worked up about the things I didn't get done, then I would't be able to enjoy and be proud of the things I did get done. As Moms, we tend to put a lot of pressure on ourselves. I try to step back and just be in the moment. Who really cares if the dishes sit overnight, or if the laundry waits another day.
I love the fall, hubby watchs football and hockey, and I take this time to use as my relax time. Usually a nice warm shower, and a glass of wine, and catching up on magazines that have piled up. Sometimes I soak my feet in a pan with warm water and epson salts, it really makes them feel good.
My favorite way to relax is to take a candlelight bath with a glass of wine. It's so nice to have some quiet "me" time.
After putting my kids to bed, I take 30 minutes every night to unwind, usually by reading. I'll read whatever I've placed on my nightstand during the day--books, newspapers, magazines, catalogs and more. This just helps me to get away from it all.
While not quite disconnecting I read at least a chapter from the current book I am enjoying while laying in bed. It gives me a chance to let my brain stop and focus on the great story that is unraveling in my mind. It helps me rest and lets me dream about the rest of the book. :)
Take a nice warm bath, with fragrant oils (I love lavendar and eucalyptus). Close my eyes, breathe deeply, calm my thoughts
I love to take a nice hot bath... always helps me unwind!
