Valentine's Day may be months away but that doesn't mean a great date can't happen tonight, this weekend or this month. Whether you're single, dating or married, it's always a good idea to have a few solid date ideas in your back pocket for the right occasion.

Dinner and a movie is a classic. But even the classics can use an update every once and a while. And, for many of us, a free hour, afternoon or  evening  is incredibly precious. So let's make sure that time is best infused with fun, excitement and a little bit of romance.

The SheSpeaks Team has put together 5 Great Date Ideas that are pretty easy to put into action. But we want to hear from YOU. What date ideas make it on your Top 10 list? What have you dreamed about? Or what great date did a friend go on that you wished someone would do for you? And your efforts won't go unrewarded. Post a great date idea below and you'll be entered to WIN a Romantic Dinner for Two Gift Basket. A second lucky winner will receive a Picnic Backpack ($50 value) and a third winner will receive a Best Romantic Classics 100 CD.The contest will start Wednesday, September 28th and will end Tuesday, October 4th at midnight EST.

5 Date Ideas:

1) Spend an afternoon in an orchard

You probably haven't been to an orchard since you were a kid. Or if you have kids, you haven't enjoyed the experience alone. Take advantage of the fall weather and drive into the country together and pick some fresh fruit, take a hay ride, and get some apple cider. Then go home and bake a pie together!

Not sure how to find your local orchard? Try this website http://www.applejournal.com/trail.htm

2) Bring it Indoors

Sometimes after a long week, the only place you want to be is home. That's ok. Bring the romance indoors. Pick up some delicious dessert, place a blanket and pillows on the living room floor, light some candles, dim the lights and put on some relaxing music. Don't forget to turn the TV and cell phones off and you'll be transported to your own personal paradise.

3. Get your hands dirty

Take a class together! Cooking in the kitchen alone may not be that much fun, but doing it together can be a wonderful exprience. Sign up to make sushi, croissants or chocolate truffles. If you want out of the kitchen, try a pottery or dance class. The point is to get out of the house and try something new... together.

4. Stargaze

A star-lit sky can be incredibly romantic. If you live where the city lights won't get in the way, pack a picnic with wine, cheeses and sweets and find a great place to look up at the stars and enjoy the fresh air before cooler weather arrives. If you're near a city, don't worry. Visit your local planetarium. The view can be just as amazing. To find your local planetarium... http://www.planjam.com/planetarium.html

5. Build something you can play with

Take a trip to your local hobby shop and pick out a project you can work on together. Maybe build a boat, a rocket or a kite and then take it out for a spin once you're finished.

Now it's Your turn. Tell us your Great Date Ideas!

A favorite date idea of mine is a picnic-napping! There are plenty of cafes that will put together a great lunch so you can be fun and spontaneous with this one! Order ahead and pick it up on your way to see your man. Take him to your favorite breezy outdoor spot in a local park, by the ocean, or at a romantic location like the Getty Center(if you happen to live in Los Angeles). You can even pack in your favorite bottle of wine or personalize the meal with linens from home. Keep it casual and fun!

I think a great date is when you are completely spontaneous ! Waking up getting dressed and hopping in the car and driving. You could end up in the mountains or at the beach! The main thing is that just being together is the best part. Take turns telling each other what you admire about each other . Stop at little local restaurant that you have never tried but always wanted to. Go to foreign language movie and then stop at a cozy coffee shop and try an exotic blend of coffee.Go for a walk and hold hands and share silly stories or jokes that you have heard recently. You can take a blanket and find a nice grassy spot in the country somewhere and lie on your backs Looking at the clouds and describe what the shapes look like to you. At the end of the day, you could sit together under the stars and tell each your dreams for the future. In a swing looking at the stars

Our favorite date night would be to go to a local bookstore and head towards the poetry section. There we would each find a poetry book to read through to find a poem that expresses our feelings about each other. We would then read the poem to each other! Then we would head to a ice cream shop and share a favorite sundea. We would save the cherry on top and then bite each side and end up with a kiss!!!Then of course walk and in hand all the way home!!!

A great date is a trip along the Bourbon Trail. My favorite stop is Woodford Reserve. The drive to the Distillery is beautiful. Lots of horse farms surrounded by split rail fences. We take a tour and then have a tasting and lunch. Perfect..

Since we live in Hawaii, we would def go out to a nice dinner, and walk on the beach during the sunset. Maybe even horseback riding or hiking during a nice hawaiian sun.

I would like to go to the pub and have some burgers and beer.... and then drive to the airport and lay a blanket on the front of the car and watch airplanes go by. Just a great time to get re-connected without people stopping to say hi or kids hanging all over us. Spend the rest of the night together on the couch spooned together to keep each other warm!

A romantic date with my husband would be to travel to New York by Limousine. Eat dinner at a fancy restaurant and catch an Opera in 10th row orchestra. Then spend a night at the Mandarine Oriental Luxury Suite and enjoy Manhattan's Night Lights in bed. Wake up to breakfast in bed and just spend a relaxing time with my husband Then be driven home by Limo.

Our perfect date night consists of a beautiful platter of sushi rolls, white wine, and plenty of laughter. We have a favorite sushi restaurant that makes our date night special. The sushi chef knows us as regulars so he always adds flowers and his special touches to our platter. The restaurant manager has sent a courtesy wine bottle to our table a time or two. The ambience is soft and romantic with low lighting, table candles, and romantic music. It is my preferred date night because we both dress up and he carries me on his arm as if it was our "first" date. Exceptional company, food, and wine can only equal a fabulous night out :)

I love to open a bottle of wine and try out a new recipe with my date. Like shrimp fra diavolo. It's fun and sexy to cook together in the kitchen, sampling everything along the way. And when all is said and done bring everything outside and have a candle lit dinner as you watch the sun go down. End the evening with a nice fire and a good old black & white movie.

My husband and I love to spend Saturday afternoons visiting thrift stores looking for bargains, we stop for coffee before setting out. After visiting several of our favorite stores we pick up Chinese food and go home and watch movies.

My husband would be thrilled if I would play a round of mini golf with him on date night. I never cared for golf and he was thrilled when our sons learned to love mini golfing with him. The boys are grown and gone now. It is my husband and I at home needing to make opportunities to get out and be active , learn to live without children at home. I will suggest mini golf , a weiner roast and making carmel apples at home because he would enjoy this. Cuddling and enjoying the last days of decent midwestern weather outdoors would be the perfect date.

One of my favorite dates during the fall is to hit the apple orchards! We always enjoy a road trip - we get to talk and take in the scenery. Every year we go to a place and pick our own apples and raspberrries. They are so delicious - nothing beats eating a fresh picked apple. After picking apples will stop off and have lunch at a local cafe then it's off to baking pies that of course my husband absolutely loves! It's a relaxing date - we can both unwind, enjoy the beautiful fall scenery, and each other's company!

having three kids, my husband and i rarely have alone time.. but my favorite date of ours has got to be when he whisked me away to san francisco ( my favorite city !) for a day .. woke me up way too early so we can make it on time for picnic brunch at the palace of fine arts.. spent the rest of the day hitting my old favorite spots in the city (the pier, blondies at union square, my alma mater (academy of art), china town and the shopping malls of course! ) a relaxing massage at the hotel to unwind.. followed by dinner at one of my favorite restos, Umami. .. thank God for southwest deals and his employee discount at intercontinental, we had an awesome and affordable anniversary date... if only i could top that this year..

During fall when the sun sets early and the evenings are cool. Having a Picnic Dinner in the park or in the back yard while watching a classic movie like "Casablanca". After the movie sit together wrapped in a blanket expressing each other's love until the sun rises.
