Valentine's Day may be months away but that doesn't mean a great date can't happen tonight, this weekend or this month. Whether you're single, dating or married, it's always a good idea to have a few solid date ideas in your back pocket for the right occasion.

Dinner and a movie is a classic. But even the classics can use an update every once and a while. And, for many of us, a free hour, afternoon or  evening  is incredibly precious. So let's make sure that time is best infused with fun, excitement and a little bit of romance.

The SheSpeaks Team has put together 5 Great Date Ideas that are pretty easy to put into action. But we want to hear from YOU. What date ideas make it on your Top 10 list? What have you dreamed about? Or what great date did a friend go on that you wished someone would do for you? And your efforts won't go unrewarded. Post a great date idea below and you'll be entered to WIN a Romantic Dinner for Two Gift Basket. A second lucky winner will receive a Picnic Backpack ($50 value) and a third winner will receive a Best Romantic Classics 100 CD.The contest will start Wednesday, September 28th and will end Tuesday, October 4th at midnight EST.

5 Date Ideas:

1) Spend an afternoon in an orchard

You probably haven't been to an orchard since you were a kid. Or if you have kids, you haven't enjoyed the experience alone. Take advantage of the fall weather and drive into the country together and pick some fresh fruit, take a hay ride, and get some apple cider. Then go home and bake a pie together!

Not sure how to find your local orchard? Try this website http://www.applejournal.com/trail.htm

2) Bring it Indoors

Sometimes after a long week, the only place you want to be is home. That's ok. Bring the romance indoors. Pick up some delicious dessert, place a blanket and pillows on the living room floor, light some candles, dim the lights and put on some relaxing music. Don't forget to turn the TV and cell phones off and you'll be transported to your own personal paradise.

3. Get your hands dirty

Take a class together! Cooking in the kitchen alone may not be that much fun, but doing it together can be a wonderful exprience. Sign up to make sushi, croissants or chocolate truffles. If you want out of the kitchen, try a pottery or dance class. The point is to get out of the house and try something new... together.

4. Stargaze

A star-lit sky can be incredibly romantic. If you live where the city lights won't get in the way, pack a picnic with wine, cheeses and sweets and find a great place to look up at the stars and enjoy the fresh air before cooler weather arrives. If you're near a city, don't worry. Visit your local planetarium. The view can be just as amazing. To find your local planetarium... http://www.planjam.com/planetarium.html

5. Build something you can play with

Take a trip to your local hobby shop and pick out a project you can work on together. Maybe build a boat, a rocket or a kite and then take it out for a spin once you're finished.

Now it's Your turn. Tell us your Great Date Ideas!

I like to do something new together - something neither of us have ever done. This brings us closer together and creates a new experience that we can only share with one another. Taking a cooking class or learning to rock climb, kayak or something adventurous and new adds a whole element of fresh sparks to the relationship!

We like to leave the kids and go for a really cheap Sunday afternoon date. WE drive around our favorite neighborhoods talking about what houses we would love if we had the money. Then we go to a few open houses just to get ideas and see inside.

One of my husbands and my favorite date nights is buying a bottle of wine (for me) and a cigar (for him) and sitting on our back porch after our daughter is in bed. We leave phones and computers in the house and sit under the stars and talk. It's a great time to reconnect. :)

(works best in or near a bigger city) Find a neat local place that attracts many different people... a historic landmark, beautiful park, statue, water fountain, lake... especially where families, friends, and wedding parties might gather for pictures. take some snacks, lay down on the grass, and people watch. People are fun, especially when ones from all different backgrounds and cultures are all in one place for a common reason. it gives the couple alot of sharing time too. as you're people watching, it brings up alot of neat things to talk about.

Nothing better than cooking dinner together. I usually start with simmering homemade pasta sauce for an hour or so and cooking the pasta. Hubby helps with the salad and drinks and watches the bread toasting in the oven while I phone Grandma to check on the kids. Then we carry our plates to the living room and eat by the fireplace.

My husband and I did the Dinner - Dance Cruise in Newport. It's for approx. 4 hours, you have dinner and dancing on this beutiful boat with intimate lighting making it the most romantic atmosphere. The dinner is delicious, served with wine and gives you time to see each other in another light, than "Mommy and Daddy" (if that applies to you.) We have 4 children, and you have to create the romance by doing suprising things to keep the spark alive :)

My perfect date would be sitting on our patio with a margaretta, grilling out, just talking about our week, then eating by candlelite. Then a good comedy movie to end the day out!

I would love to beable to just do something spontanious like boarding a plane and just going some place that I haven't been to before. I don't want any planning involved, just do it. Wouldn't it be so awesome to have your own plane so you could just go to Paris on a whim? I would enjoy a train ride more I think. With a dinning car and just get going down the tracks, see the country side. Yes, I think I would like that. Something out of the ordinary. I thought of a balloon ride, also, that would be so romantic. I suppose I would prefer the train. That seems to be more my style. Of course it would take longer than a night. That's normal for my husband and myself. Date nights usually have been weekends long.

A day with not kids, chores, email, work, or phone disruptions would be awesome. If we could ever acheive that it wouldn't matter what we did as long as we were enjoying each other.

One of our favorite things to do is turn a date into a mini-vacation. We take turns picking a country/region and the whole date revolves around the choice. We've picked Germany and found a lovely authentic German restaurant for dinner. Prior to dinner we found some small German stores in an outlying community and enjoyed browsing clocks, chocolate, and other German fair. We've done the same thing with Russia, Mexico, France, Greece, and Italy. We do everything we can to surround ourselves in the country we chose to make it feel that we're really there. It's been a lot of fun and exposed us to places we wouldn't normally visit and food we wouldn't normally try. The secret is to find the most authentic places possible.
