A video game that was recently being sold on reputable websites like Amazon and eBay gives new meaning to what would be considered inappropriate for both children and adults.  The disturbing Japanese game called Rapelay is said to depict mothers and their daughters being stalked, assaulted, and raped.

Fox News recently reported on Amazon and eBay dropping the game from their sites.  An Amazon spokeswoman told Fox News, “We determined that we did not want to be selling this particular item.”  Amazon had reportedly been selling a few “like new” copies of the game before it was removed.  The Japan based company that created the game is called Illusion Studio and also sells a video game series entitled Battle Raper and Battle Raper 2.

World Net Daily (WND) also reported on the removal of the rape simulating game.  According to reviews and descriptions of Rapelay WND reports pregnancy and abortion are focused on throughout the game.  Characters are punished if after raping a woman they decide to keep the baby rather than aborting it.  The main character has somehow escaped from prison in order to stalk and rape women and young girls.  The male character is said to take photographs of his victims after assaulting and raping them.

Though the game has now been removed from both eBay and Amazon, Newsday reports that Rapelay is still being sold on smaller gaming websites.  New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault have called on all U.S. video game distributors to refrain from selling the game.

What do you think of the recent removal of Rapelay from Amazon and eBay?

Do you think enough is being done to ensure games like these do not end up in the wrong hands?

Everyone should boycott this company...only then will they get the message. I would also boycott any store that would sell such a horrible thing!

I heard about this on the radio and thought that it was a joke! I couldn't believe that someone would think that it is "fun" to play a game like that. What are we teaching our children about how to handle themselves. I don't think that we are being responsible in our creating of video games...they are desensitizing the masses to acts that are truly heinous. And to think that when brought up on charges the person can claim that they were brainwashed by the games and get away with whatever they want is downright dispicable.

And to think that this was sold by major retailers? How Awful!!!

I generally do not believe much of the hype regarding violent video games and their potential effect on teenagers, but this is definitely over the top. The idea that someone would create a game like this is sickening!

I am horrified by this. Too many women have worked very hard to raise awarness and get laws and programs designed to help, defend and protect victims of sexual assult. To allow the outright promotion of rape under the guise of a game is disguting! The very notion of a rape game is unimaginable. I hope that these people are not allowed to hide behind the law. Everytime I think nothing shocks me in this world anymore another idiot proves me wrong.

This is sooo horrible. This game and all others like it should be banned from sale anywhere in the United States. The manufacturer, Creator, and distributer should be boycotted also. I can't believe anyone would want to play like they were raping women. Anyone that buys this game should have to sign for it before buying and the police should add them to the sex offenders list because those sick perverts are probably the only ones who would want to play it.

What a sick, disgusting "game". Why would anyone even want to play this anyway? Man, there must be something in the water...

I think it is absolutely horrible what people can get away with!!! Let's teach our children how to rape women with video games??? Oh, yes, but they can hide behide the laws of our country to get away with making and selling such garbage. Then when then next rapist is brought to trial he will say that: "The video game made him do it!" What a world we live in!!!
