Wilted Lettuce Salad

Makes: 6 Servings

Description: This is a wonderful, tangy salad that pleases all of your taste buds! It is also a great salad to have when you have a cold, feeling congested, or just not feeling your best. My Mom has been making this since I can remember at about 6 years old. I just love it & hope you will too!

Ingredients:
5 Slices  Bacon
2 Tablespoons  Red Wine Vinegar
1 Tablespoon  Lemon Juice
1 Head  Leaf Lettuce
6  Green Onions w/tops Thinly Sliced
1 tsp  White Sugar
1/2 tsp  Ground Black Pepper

Instructions: Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Remove from skillet, crumble and set aside.
2. To the hot bacon drippings, add the vinegar, lemon juice, sugar and pepper. Stir over medium heat until hot.
3. In a large bowl, combine the lettuce and green onions. Add the warm dressing and toss to evenly coat. Sprinkle with bacon and serve.

I haven't had this in ages. I have always loved my mom's wilted lettuce. Thanks for reminding me. I don't think she used red wine vinegar or lemon juice. I think she used regular vinegar. Yum! I just might have to make this very soon. Thanks!
