President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are known for their close relationship and public displays of affection, so it comes as no surprise that a group of high school students were eager to receive relationship advice from Mrs. Obama.
A report from CNN details Mrs. Obama’s recent visit with female high school students from Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School who were participating in an immersion program at the University of Oxford.
Mrs. Obama admitted to the students that when she first met Barack Obama, she wasn’t aware that he would be president some day. She said, “I always thought he would be useful, but I had no idea he was going to be president.”
She also explained that his ambition was not what most attracted her to him. Mrs. Obama was most impressed with the love he showed for his family as well as the humor he brought to the relationship.
When advising the young women on who they should choose to be with, Mrs. Obama had this to say: “Reach for partners that make you better. Do not bring people in your life who weigh you down. And trust your instincts. Good relationships feel good, they feel right.”
