Jessica Cohen's days are spent as a writer, strategist, and all-around obstacle hurdler. Prior to spending her time as a blogger and social media strategist, she spent 14 fabulous years in traditional media research and strategy for several major consumer magazines. By night she drives a shuttle(which coincidentally looks a lot like her SUV), taking kids from karate to soccer to hockey, and back again. At Eat Sleep Be you will find plenty of posts related to social good and acts of kindness, health and wellness, mindfulness, green living, and more.
Jessica is an acitve member of our community, so we wanted to find out more about here. This is what we found out, in her own words.
Where you can find me: Facebook - Instagram - Pinterest - Twitter
I live in… Pennsylvania, by way of New York and New Jersey. There’s an unwritten code for native New Yorkers to always mention our home state. No matter where I may live, I’ll always be a New Yorker at heart.
My niche is… Health and wellness, social good, and eco-friendly living. To me, they are all very much connected.
I write when….. I am inspired.
When did I start blogging: In 2008, though it has been a bit of a metamorphosis.
Where I work: There’s a designated office space in my home, but the truth is that I work from pretty much anywhere.
I am connected…. All the time. Some days I wish the Internet shut down at 4:00 just trading hours on the stock market. Wouldn’t it be great if there were a closing bell signaling the end of the workday for everyone?
When I’m stressed, I… Take a walk. Something about that fresh air and mindless movement allows my mind to clear and solutions to form. Putting one foot in front of the other and forging ahead can be very therapeutic.
My favorite gadget is… My iPhone.
My favorite travel destination is… Anywhere with a not-too-crowded beach. There is nothing more peaceful than the smell of salty air and the sound of ocean waves hitting the shore.
I do all my shopping…. Quickly. I rarely waver about a purchase. Yet when I do, I walk away. If I’m still thinking about the item minutes later, I go back and get it. Otherwise it must not have mattered much after all.
My favorite movie of all time is... Almost Famous, though it has been a while since I’ve seen it.
Coffee or tea: Both! When I was pregnant with my oldest child, I suddenly couldn’t survive the morning without a cup of coffee (decaf then, of course). It has been that way ever since. I love tea also, so I usually have a cup in the afternoon or evening.
I love… A great conversation. People don’t talk anymore. Those moments of deep, intellectual conversation where you can genuinely connect with someone, share differing opinions, or learn something new – those are rare and beautiful to me.
I dream about…. Being with my family in a small cottage in a remote beach town. There is nothing more peaceful than the smell of salty air and the sound of ocean waves hitting the shore.
Where you can find my writing: It’s a secret! Well, sort of. I ghost write posts for individuals and companies, which happens to be one of my favorite ways to work.
What else I do: Since I’ve always been interested in health and wellness, and done years of research and writing, it made sense for me to become a certified health coach. In addition to writing, now I work with individuals and groups who want to live a healthier lifestyle.
I believe that…. Small changes make a big difference. That’s why I write the posts I do. If a reader picks up even just one piece of information that leads to a healthier, greener, or kinder lifestyle, then it was worth writing about.
