Renee Zellweger Responds To All the Chatter About Her New Look

You probably saw the photos of actress Renee Zellweger at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards looking…well completely different. The 45 year old actresses face seems to have gone through some drastic changes recently to the point that many are saying she is unrecognizable. Speculation has run the gamut as to which type of surgeries she has had to change her signature look we all remember so well from movies like Bridget Jones’ Diary.

Her reasons for changing up her look are obviously very personal, but the pressures Hollywood actresses face to be perceived as forever young are no secret. Zellweger herself recently spoke out to say how “silly” all of the speculation and talk over the photos are. She told People, “I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows.” She adds, “My friends say that I look peaceful. I am healthy. For a long time I wasn't doing such a good job with that. I took on a schedule that is not realistically sustainable and didn't allow for taking care of myself. Rather than stopping to recalibrate, I kept running until I was depleted and made bad choices about how to conceal the exhaustion. I was aware of the chaos and finally chose different things.”

Zellweger thinks that perhaps the reaction has something to do with the fact that we haven’t seen her in much since 2010 when she starred in My Own Love Song. She says, “People don't know me in my 40s. People don't know me [as] healthy for a while. Perhaps I look different. Who doesn't as they get older?! Ha. But I am different. I'm happy.”

Were you surprised by Renee Zellweger’s new look?

What do you think of her response to all of the online chatter?

She was a very attractive woman before and she still is. I agree it is a little extreme but no one really knows what another person feels or goes through. It is easy to judge someone especially when they do something you don't agree with. She is the one who has to look at herself in the mirror everyday and if she is happy with how she looks now then who are we to judge her for it.

These pictures demonstrate the value of a great make-up artist (terrific eyebrows and cheeks on the left) and the effects of different lighting. Speaking of eyebrows, these pictures don't evidence a facelift, a mid-face lift, a necklift or a browlift. But speculation gives sites hits, which helps them meet traffic goals, and it keeps Renee's name in the spotlight too so I guess all sides benefit from the chatter.

She looks extremely different a few years ago.. There's nothing wrong with wanting to look young because even ordinary people do that. To be honest, she doesn't look happy or healthy. She looks like a poster picture of the side effects of smoking. I don't think plastic surgery is for her.

Getting old isn't easy. I have new wrinkles, bulges and greying hairs. I think she is only human, like the rest of us.

I am a little disturbed by her new look. I agree with all of the online chatter. I do understand that keeping up an image can be very exhausting, and I am glad that she is at peace now, but goodness... I took to Google Images to find her recent pictures and older pictures from 2011 and she is extremely different looking... Older looking than 45 years old. This is just my opinion, though.
