A Memoir that will stay with you I was seeing a lot on social media about this book so when the opportunity came to get a ARC from Celadon Books I signed. I have never heard of Mikel Jollett or the indie band The Airborne Toxic Event prior to getting this book. This is a memoir about Mikel life. The book starts off with Mikel early years in a place where his parents thought that his father could get help for his drug addiction in a place called Synanon. His parents soon discovered that Synanon was not what they thought it was but a cult. Mikel, brother Tony along with the children from other members are separated from their parents and put into what was called the School where they were care for other women from the cult. Eventually his parents separated and left the cult. They first goes to live with his mother parents after they leave but eventually they move to Oregon. His father lives in Los Angeles and they boys spend the summer with him. Each Of Mikel parents are different in the way that the boys are cared for/raised when they are with them. His mom want raise and grow what they eat and their clothes and etc. come from Goodwill and etc. His dad lets him and his brother eat whatever they want and buy them clothes and etc. We go along with Mikel through his life celebrate his the highs of his life as well as the lows. We live the emotions of those moments right along with him. This is the first memoir I have ever read and I love it. Thank you Celadon Books for the ARC.
