Being pregnant for the better part of two years has given Jessica Simpson motivation to want to lose some of the baby weight. The singer-actress-designer recently opened up about her weight loss journey and getting serious about planning her trip down the aisle.
USA Today recently spoke with the star about her recent weight loss and how she made an effort to eat healthier and exercise during her second pregnancy. After giving birth to her first child, daughter Maxwell, and losing fifty pounds as a Weight Watchers spokeswoman, Simpson unexpectedly became pregnant with her second child.
Simpson explains how her pregnancies differed saying, “With Maxwell, I vegged out and laid around. I knew I didn't have to watch what I was eating for the first time in my life. I kind of let loose, and I gained a lot.” When she became pregnant with her son Ace she was already on an exercise plan and felt better educated from her Weight Watchers experience. She explains how with Ace’s pregnancy she would take “walks with Eric, my almost-husband.” Adding, “I tried to get 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. I wasn't trying to lose weight. I didn't mind gaining weight.”
After her son was born and her doctors said it was okay she got back on her Weight Watchers new Simple Start plan and says that she began seeing results very quickly. Aside from her exercise and Weight Watchers, Simpson contributes a lot of her weight loss to running after her two kids and taking walks with her husband. She says, “With both kids, I'm running up and down my stairs a million times. Kids can keep your metabolism going. Eric and I go on walks together. I try and walk about 4 miles a day consistently. It makes me feel better.”
