Everything You Need to Know for Super Bowl XLVII

The Teams: San Francisco 49ers vs. Baltimore Ravens
The 49ers with quarterback Colin Kaepernick have the edge as slight favorites to win. If the 49ers win it will match the Pittsburgh Steelers record of six Super Bowl crowns. In all of the past years that the 49ers have made it to the Super Bowl they have been victorious, that's a 5-0 record. The pressure and stakes of winning are high but the 49ers will face some stiff competition in The Ravens and their quarterback Joe Flacco.

The Big Story:
It's a 'Bro Bowl but it's not featuring Peyton and Eli! For the first time in history the aligned-stars bring us a showdown of sibling coaches - featuring 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh trying to outwit his older brother, Ravens coach John Harbaugh, as they collide on the world's biggest stage for The Vince Lombardi Trophy. If you thought Venus vs Serena or Dear Abby vs Ann Landers was juicy, you may want to keep your eyes on the traditional postgame backslap.

The Time and Place:
This is the first time for the Super Bowl to be held back in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina. Super Bowl XLVII will be in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome which holds 73,208 people. Kickoff is at 6:30PM ET on Sunday and this year it's being broadcast by CBS (which takes turns with NBC and Fox).

The Halftime Show:
To Sync or not to Sync? That is the question many will be waiting for at Beyonce's halftime show. Recent Super Bowl controversies include Christina Aguilera flubbing "The Star Spangled Banner," M.I.A. offering viewers her flip the bird gesture accompanied by a barely-disguised expletive, and Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction." But even though she's a big star, Beyonce could be upstaged by the final performance of Ray Lewis.  Ray Lewis is the Ravens linebacker, he's had some big moments over the years but he's retiring after this game so this could be his biggest yet, see him parodied in sheer hilarity by SNL here.

TV Ads at $3.7 million per 30 second :
With less than a week to go Kate Upton Washes the Mercedes-Benz has 5 million hits. Along with Kia Space Babies who voyage to Earth, a flamboyant genie who grants off-the-wall wishes, a Coke chase that will end according to viewer vote, Volkswagon's Get Happy and Psy's Wonderful Pistachios first-ever Super Bowl commercial (rumor is pistachio tux) - this year promises to be as zany as ever. But will any of these make it to the pantheon of Most Beloved Super Bowl Adverts?

Do you remember some of these past favorites?

Nothin But Net
Michael Jordan and Larry Bird in an outlandish game where each player tries to make an increasingly more difficult shot than the other.

Dog Bribe
A bag of Doritos is used as a bribe to keep quiet after a man becomes suspicious about a missing cat.

The Force
A pint-sized Darth Vader fails in using The Force on his dog, the washing machine, and everything in the house - until he spies the Volkswagon Passat in the driveway.

What is your all-time favorite Super Bowl ad?   What's your favorite part of the Super Bowl extravaganza?

Enjoy the game!

It is hard to choose my favorite all-time commercial... I'll pick: Little Darth Vader in first place and Nothin but Net in second. This year the game, too, will be very exciting, I can hardly wait until Sunday.

Although I am from Maryland, I am NOT a fan of the old Cleveland Browns (that team whose name I will not say), so this Sunday , Go 9ers!

Our family teams are not in the Super Bowl, but I am from the SF Bay area and I'll have to say go 9er's. We will not watch the half time and we change channels during the commercials. This keeps our boys from seeing anything unwanted. Looking forward to some dips and finger foods.
