Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I recently received a Visa Prepaid Debit Card from Card.com for review. Unlike other prepaid debit cards, Card.com allows you to customize your card to fit your personality. There are SEVERAL designs to choose from - cartoons, musicians, television programs and social causes are some of the selections just to name a few. It arrived rather quickly (within a week) and once it was activated I was ready to hit the town. I took the hubby out to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game and to enjoy each other's company, courtesy of Card.com. When the check came, I whipped out my customized Breast Cancer Awareness Visa Debit Card to pay and I was extremely embarrassed when the waitress brought the check back informing me that my card had been declined. No worries, I'm always prepared, but l'm left trying to figure out why it got the kibosh. I assume it's because the check was $25.68 and there was only $25 available on the debit card. I guess that makes sense. You can't spend what you don't have. There are no overdraft fees. A few weeks later, I attempt to use my card again - this time at McDonalds and it works perfectly fine, leaving me with a balance of approximately $13. You'd think $13 would be enough to cover $10.84 at Denny's. No chance. Fool me once, shame on you... At this point, I have no idea why my card isn't working. It seems to only like McDonalds. However, it's supposed to work wherever Visa debit cards are accepted. With about $9 dollars remaining I try to make a purchase where it will require me to enter my 4-digit pin number. Eureka! It worked. Twice! Although I like being able to showcase my individuality, I hate inconvenience. At this point, I must say that if you have a prepaid debit card loaded with money that you're unable to access because it's being declined at the point of sale it's probably not the prepaid card you want to have. I'm Just Sayin'...(Damn!)
