When you think of Autumn, what comes to mind? Oversized sweaters, leaves changing colors, a warm drink in your hands? All of that and more, maybe?
The autumn season is here and we are ready for it. But even as you break out the the cardigans and boots for a walk through the fall foliage, don’t forget that you can also bring that feeling of autumn into your own home with some super simple decorating.

Paint a Pumpkin
We know that not everyone has the chance to go pumpkin picking, but how about the pleasing aesthetic of a painted white pumpkin from the craft shop? Better yet, painting pumpkins is a great alternative to the mess of carving one. Make some stencils of ghosts, jack-o-lantern faces, bats, or leaves (you can even buy the stencils) and use those to trace out the image you want to paint onto your pumpkin.
Don't know what to do with all those apples you picked at your local orchard (or grocery store!)? They make a great centerpiece on your table. Mix those apples with other fruit, like pears or mini-pumpkins. Add acorns and pine cones to make it look like you plucked them right out of the autumn woods.
You can also have your home smell like the season by using air freshening sprays and candles. Apple cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and autumn leaves are super great and easy to find scents. Stores like Bath and Body Works usually have whole lines of scents dedicated the season. Sometimes you can even find great candles for a low price at the 99 cent store or Target. The candles are also a great way to decorate since they come in plenty of colors and designs.

DIY Halloween Decorations
While fall brings us plenty of beautiful things, there is always room for a little (not so) spooky decor as well. You are never too old for Halloween. Grab some cardboard, construction paper, string, and paint to make shapes to hang on door and drawer handles. You can create little pumpkins to stick on the doors, refrigerator, cabinets, and windows by gluing some orange construction paper to a piece of carboard and then cutting it out in the shape of a pumpkin. Then decorate to make lots of jack-o-lantern faces and anything else you'd like to see on your new spooky pumpkins! You can do the same with other shapes too, like ghosts, pumpkins, and, if you're talented, witches.
Lots of Leaves
You can bring the warmth of fall colors into the house by decorating with a leaf wreath or garland of leaves that you can buy anywhere from the 99 cent store to Walmart or Amazon. Similarly, you can achieve that look by using throw pillows, blankets, picture frames and candle holders in shades of orange, green, brown and red.

I like using dried cornstalks in the front foyer to create a fall decor
I pull out the fall harvest decorations. Lots of leaves, squash, and pumpkins. Plus my addorable him and her scarecrows. Love scarecrows.
When I decorate for fall, I pull out the fall flowers and leaves I have bought and packed away. I wash them carefully and wrap them around things on my side table. I place orange, red and yellow flowers into a decorative vase. I usually buy gourds and place them on tables around the room. I buy pumpkin and cinnamon candles to burn during the day when I am home. I have a wreath I bought for my door with a fall theme.
decorate pumpkins, make pumpkin soup, and pumpkin pie!
Seasonal wreaths are always a fun way to spice things up for holidays
Not very leave my leafs on the ground and a carved pumpkin for each of my kids
Cornstalks, pumpkins, made a wreath, used cans and painted them and poked holes in them in shapes of pumpkins and leaves and put candle inside them, made leaves from colored paper and strung them up for garland.
I love to Paint Pumpkins early since when you cut into them they 'die' quickly... then a week before Halloween I cut them open and put candles in them ... FYI ... many people don't realize that pumpkin are added into many high end pet foods for it's probiotics effects.. figure out what amounts are fight for your type and size of pet... and use the fresh pumpkin as a super food too.. a holiday decoration and a pet super food WIN WIN !!!
I get creative by using leaves and pine cones from outside and any other handy fall material I already have! Thank you!
I like to use candles in different ways to decorate!
We love to decorate pumpkins! We carve them and paint them. We make wreaths too! One for Halloween and one for Thanksgiving!
I mix my decor up every year instead of the same old decor every fall
I usually have a potions table for Halloween but have not been home much lately to get it done. I do have old pallets painted outside for decor.
We paint pumpkins and dried leaves to decorate for the fall.
We love to craft. So every year we add more fall fun to put home. Wreaths, painted pots, garland and hard turned Into lanterns and candle holders. This weekend we will be painting a ton of pumkins for our porch and friends.
