With a pair of globetrotting on-the-go parents like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt it’s not surprising that they often have a hard time dragging the kids out of bed in the morning. Ranging in age from 3 to 10, the six mini-members of the Jolie-Pitt brood probably have to deal with jetlag more than most kids their age have to in a lifetime.
Though we don’t live the lavish celebrity lifestyle, many of us can probably relate to the difficulties of waking sleepy children. But it’s Pitt’s recent confession of how he sometimes gets the kids going in the morning that has some eyebrows raised.
Pitt admitted on CBS’s Sunday Morning that he has turned to an early am dose of soda to give the kids a little boost in the morning. He explains, "Listen, I admit there's times like, 'We gotta get up. Get up! Here's your shoes. Here's your shoes. Drink this Coke. Drink this Coca Cola. Drink it all. Right now! Drink it! Drink it! Drink it! Just so we could get 'em up and going.”
For many health-conscious parents who understand the seriousness of the childhood obesity epidemic, a sugary caffeinated drink like soda (especially first thing in the morning) for young children is a definite no-no.
