Makes: 6 Rolls
Description: A very easy and unique presentation for the classic tuna melt.
Ingredients:
2 Cans
Tuna, drained
1 tsp
Lemon Juice
1 C
Mayo
1 to 2 Tbsp
Shallots, finely diced
6
Kaiser Rolls
6 Tbsp
Cream Cheese
6
Baby Dill Pickles
1 C
Cheddar Cheese, shredded
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together tuna, lemon juice and enough mayonnaise to make it your preferred consistency. Add shallots to taste and set mixture aside. Cut a thin slice off of the top of each roll, do not discard the top. Hollow each roll out to 1/4 inch thickness. You can feed the innards to your chickens, childrens, or make croutons! Spread 1 Tbsp of cream cheese inside the bottom of each roll. Spoon in the tuna mixture. Slice each baby pickle lengthwise into 3 pieces and place the pieces on top of the tuna mixture. Sprinkle enough shredded cheease over the pickles to cover them and then replace the top of the roll. You may need to squish down the filling a little!
Place each rolls in a square of aluminum foil. Bring the corners of the foil into the center, pinching and folding until the roll is covered fully.
Place wrapped rolls on a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
Serve this anytime, lunch or dinner. Your friends and family will be impressed, strangers will adore you and I will not be responsible for any damage caused by hordes of fanatical baked tuna melt groupies!
