If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

How many times have you gone into a store and thought, "Why is it like this? It could be so much better!" From the long lines at the wholesale clubs (because only half of the lanes are open!) to rude and inattentive sales people to messy racks at some stores where you can't find your size in the place its meant to be!  Some of our shopping experiences seem ripe for improvement!

If you were given the chance to make a shopping experience better, which type of store would it be and why?

Grocery Store (36.2%)

Department Store (7.6%)

Mass Merchandiser (Wal*Mart, Kmart, Target) (39.1%)

Club Store (Costco, Sam?s, etc.) (4.9%)

Discount Store (TJ Maxx, Filene?s, etc.) (6.5%)

Drug Store (1.6%)

Big Box Retailer (Home Depot, Staples, Toys R Us, etc.) (3.8%)

If you were given the power to make changes that would improve your shopping experience, what type of retail store would you most want to impact?

I love shopping discount stores because they really do have good deals, like TJ Maxx, which is one of my favorites! But the way it is set up drives me crazy and nothing makes sense where they have it. It should flow as you enter the store and departments should be very easy to know where they are.

Discount stores have some great deals on quality products. However, you have to be patient. The store set-up and messy racks make it difficult to find the right size and mechandise.

I think some of the large retailers need to "go green" and add some skylights. Also, if departments were arranged and marked nicer, it would give the store a whole "upscaled" look.

I appreciate the discounts and coupons my drug store receipt prints, however they expire too soon and often do not meet my buying habits or needs.

Keep it simple...I love to shop...I just don't like running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to find the rest of the "isle" that is one the other side of the store. I know it is done this way to get more exposure to products. Yet when time is tight I give up! I find an "organized" store more user friendly and tend to go there.

I wish my grocery store had a kids play area. Like the one Ikea has. This would make going to the grocery store much better.

I love shopping in Mass Merchandise stores because they carry a large variety of products.

When I am shopping in one of these stores, I would love it if they annouced a one hour special on a particular item with maybe a 20% discount. It would be a surprise sale a day.

I am pretty happy about the experiences I have in most of the other types of stores except for grocery stores so that is the one I would like to change the most. They are crowded and overwhelming as well as they don't put anything where it makes sense.

It doesn't matter what time I go into the stores in my area, but there's never enough cashiers available.
