Though I understand the reason behind why someone over 70 would like to keep their license without having to retake the driving test, I just can't help but think back to that tragic event when an elderly man drove his car into a group of people shopping at a Farmer's Market. My opinion might not be popular, especially given the limited resources that are allocated for this, but I think that people over 70 should actually refrain from driving all together and rely on some kind of public transportation. Not necessarily buses or taxis, but vans or other smaller vehicles specifically available for such requests. There are even programs now in some states that provide the elderly with vouchers to offset the cost of public transportation.
