I'm a teacher so I often reprimand other people's children. However, in my personal life, I would only ever do it if I knew both the child and the mother well, and I knew that the mother would trust me to do so. The key is discipline, not punishment.

I agree with Rissabp. I am a teacher assistant so I do it often as well. I would not do it in my personal life unless I am in a position to do so and is trusted by the child's parents to do so.

there have been times when my childrens friends have been over and they've needed a reminded on whta our house rules are-MIGHT be DIFFERANT at their house, If a child at the park was acting out I only said something if they were hurting or bothering my own kids.

Only in a case where the child is in danger but there are always boundaries you do not cross- never okay to hit a child especially one that is not yours
