Hi! I am currently 18 weeks pregnant with my first child. Its exciting but a little nerve wracking. Any advice on how to save up or tips on surviving while on maternity leave?

I was a single mother working full time as a care giver during my pregnancy. I also did a lot of babysitting on the side and I sold a lot of stuff around my house that I didn't need. Just make sure you have a good support system around you. Before and After baby is born make sure you get enough rest.

Start now stockpiling now on must haves: food, diapers, wipes, drinks, paper goods, etc. Try out bargain brands and bent-dent stores for savings. Become a couponing mom now, baby coupons are frequently provided and it will also save you in household items and food. Prepare freeze friendly slow cooker meals now and store until after baby so you can have fresh, homecooked meals that don't take must time or effort on your part. Enjoy every moment cause it will go by way to fast. Look to other mommies for advise in your church, community or family. You will have to find what works for you. Good luck.

First and foremost congrats !!!! Don't worry fear is normal but when you give birth you'll be so overwhelmed with joy that fear will disappear. I wish you and you're unborn angel the best ..

When you first look at your little bundle you may freak or think what will I do with this little baby, but you will know what to do its all motherly instinct like they say!! I just had a little guy he's 8 weeks old! I freaked when I saw him and thought now what.. I had lots of help from my family and friends and the hospital. Also when you have your baby realize you have to heal and you need to sleep and take it easy!! Don't rush yourself and if people want to help you let them and take naps in spurts because you will need it!! An above all just love your baby, an it may be hard at first but it will get better!! Good luck mama!!

Congratulations, and remember, every pregnancy is different, so take all the stories you will hear (and you will hear them all!!) with a grain of salt. Start collecting diapers of all sizes, as well as non talc powder (if that's still in use), blankets, and other daily items-clothes, clothes, clothes. I also like the advice above about freezing meals prior to your leave. Relax while you can, and enjoy the ride.

Make meals now. Now. Make meals for your freezer, so its one less thing you will need. Do your best to automate anything you can- like bill pay and appointment reminders. Then, you won't have to think of that during the busy maternity leave. Also, once you are home, be sure to be gentle with yourself. Tell your doctor/midwife if you aren't feeling like yourself- anxious, sad, etc. They can really help. Try to join a mom's group for during your leave to connect with others and have a built in social outlet. And- cloth diapers are the best! An expense at first, but then they pay for themselves!

my advise is since you are just 18 weeks and you have the energy move around and get things done start your prep for baby room, shopping for clothing, diapers, bottles and so on however it will be overwhelming to choose because there are so many products out there that claims to be best for baby you should always consider the sex of your child then the comfort, affordability, durability, safety for baby. once you stock up early its always easier. plus pampers is something babies use alot in the first 3 months and the size changes rapidly as the baby grows alot so during the first month a baby can go from newborn to stage 2 pampers. coupons are a great way to save money, register via email for promotions, discounts and sales at walmart, baby r us, and coupons.com, pampers.com, for your chance to save and get great deals.
