Days and Nights mixed any tips on reversing?

My 5 week old sleeps beautifully and so peaceful during the day, and is up every 2 hours at night wanting to eat, I'm exhausted. I'm pretty sure he has his nights and days mixed up any ideas on keeping him awake more during the day so he and I can get some sleep at night? I've tried keeping the blinds open and lights on, hasn't worked. HELP!

I myself am still pregnant with my first baby. But my mom has talked a lot with me about schedules. The internet has a lot of tips too. The biggest thing you need to do is be able to read your baby. One of the best things I've heard you should do is to stimulate your baby more during the day. So play with your baby, give it baths, all that kind of stuff during the day. But set times for them to nap. Just don't go too overboard with the routine though. Set a routine but don't get upset if they don't follow it. Another thing, try feeding your baby more before bedtime. They'll still wake up every so often though if you're strictly breastfeeding. Just feed them longer when they wake up. And don't stimulate the baby too much. Keep lights on dim and make it just about feeding. For the first few months don't worry too much about a schedule. It may really suck but your little one has to get used to the world still. Best of luck though!

I heard from my doctor, that babies are genetically progrmed to wake during night because that's when our bodies make the most Breast milk. The ideas and tips Summer left are great and I agree, but don't get too worked up if it doesnt happen right away. Some are easier to switch than others. My last child was hard to get into a day schedule it seems. I try with this child, to wake them by changing their diaper before I go to bed and feeding them so they are full. Then count on them waking in at least 2 to 4 hours for another feeding. Also if you are Breast feeding, don't drink caffeine or root beer close to bedtime feedings. Root beer can give them gas through your milk and caffeine can keep them up as well. TRUST ME lol. Good luck.
