Hey girls, I'm working on an art portfolio to get into college, and I have five weeks, so much work and not enough time! I do have a part time job, but I know if I buckle down I can do this and come through. Problem is, I am very stressed with all I have to do, I fear there is not enough time, and I am having problems staying motivated and focused on the job at hand. I KNOW I can do it, but stress is totally holding me back. Do any of you ladies have any suggestions on how to manage stress and stay motivated for the next five weeks?

I don't know if it will work for you, but I always put on heavy metal music full blast and headbang to it. I get so into it that I forget about my stress and I feel recharged. If not then meditate, run a hot bath or even pet a cat (spending time with an animal can bring down stress and high blood pressure.).

It sounds like you have a lot to do in a short period of time. Make yourself a schedule, and then stick to it. Make sure you allow breaks throughout your schedule to clear your head and refocus. And keep telling yourself there is light at the end of the tunnel! This is just practice for college itself, so you need to get accustomed to being self disciplined. Particularly challenging with creative studies, because you don't want to get bogged down in work when you're trying to be creative, but don't want to become lazy either.

Deep breathing techniques work great. I learned how to do them in a yoga class.

* Reducing caffeine, tea, cola, and chocolate consumption. * Checking with a doctor or pharmacist before using over-the-counter or herbal remedies to see if they contain chemicals that may contribute to anxiety. * Exercising regularly. * Eating healthy foods. * Keeping a regular sleep pattern. * Don't forget to Breath - seriously, when we get stressed we tend to have shallow breaths Hope this helps :)

I take my nightly bath. No one is allowed to interrupt me. This is me time for unwinding.
