My mom's words of wisdom that I didn't really appreciate as a child, but fully understand now are "money doesn't grow on trees".

My mom taught me about empathy. In my life, that lesson has been a gift. I'm trying hard to pass it along to my kids too.

People can say what they want to say about you. Your actions are what people will remember you by - not by what others have said.

My Mom raised me to be very independent. She did not want me to have to depend on anyone (she was happily married but I had told her I preferred to stay single) because at the end of the day, at some point all I would have to depend on is myself. Granted, I have many friends and my siblings, but I have become very self-sufficient in my adulthood... and I have Mom to thank for that!

Treat people with respect. Anything too good to be true, usually is. Trust your instincts.

What words of wisdom does my Mother impart to me, is to be a loving and be a sincere daughter and always be kind to older people and treat them with courteousness. My sister has three children, and I have one, so more wisdom is between Mom and my sister.
