My kids are counting down to the end of the school year. They dream of long days playing outside, swimming in the pool, and yes, lots of Xbox.

I look forward to three months without fights over homework or permission slips to sign. But I also dread long days with my kids just staring at screens and whining, "Mommy, I'm bored."

Which is why we need to work together. Calling all SheSpeaks moms, grandmas or anyone who has ever been a kid themselves!

Share ways to keep kids busy over the summer. They can be big plans or little projects. They can be for big kids or little ones. All ideas will help! Anyone who gives a suggestion will be entered to win a set of 5 Outdoor Games, perfect to occupy your kids' time.

Here's how you enter:

Comment below! Give us an idea you have for filling up those long summer days.

AND/OR

Tweet a way to stay busy this summer using the hashtags: #SheSpeaksSummer, @SheSpeaksUp & #Giveaway.

Bonus: We have some upcoming kids programs! Make sure your SheSpeaks Profile is up-to-date here so we can see if you qualify.

And now, some summer ideas from the SheSpeaks staff to get you started...

"I always loved loved loved the summer reading program at the library." - Carol

"I'd like to to do both big things and little things with my kids this summer - everything from riding the tallest roller coaster to collecting rocks." - Jenny

"My summer vacations as a kid were pretty standard - I went to our town's "summer rec" program that had swimming lessons, tennis lessons, and arts & crafts.  Lots of boondoggle lanyard making." - Emily

"My 15- year old is most likely watching entirely too much Netflix!  She will take a week to do a service trip with her youth group. " - Missy

"We bought a kids cookbook and my kids looked through it. We're going to try to make a new recipe each week." - Susan

"My sister has her kids on a schedule so it's similar to school (they are 4 & 6). She has time slotted for coloring, writing/reading, outdoor chores, meals and snacks, and 1 day a week adventures (pool, zoo, etc). Also they are doing swim lessons. " - Lori

*One lucky commenter or Tweeter who enters by June 11th, 2017 will be chosen at random to receive a Franklin 5 Game Beach Bag Combo Set, valued at $29.99. Giveaway is open to U.S. residents at least 18 years of age. Entrants must be a member of SheSpeaks. If you are not a member, click here to join. Winner will be notified by email.

I do like taking my kids to the library for the summer reading club, but now that they are older they like to do other stuff. They keep busy by baking or making dinner! I love it cause they get to show their creative sides. I'll have a challenge of the week and each person gets to make dinner to meet the challenge.

My boys and I have been volunteering once a week for over 4 years now. They are working in something that interests them, that gives them great social skills, and also allows them to get used to schedules. All this, and they are having fun! We love where we volunteer, so make sure that you find something that you love and feel passionate about.

We pick out one new thing we want to learn how to do at the start of summer and work towards mastering it by the end as a family. These are skills that will come in handy the rest of our lives and it also shows the children that adults are constantly learning too (and make mistakes and don't know everything). Previous years we have learned simple woodworking, vehicle maintenance and making compost. We do it all together and always have interesting memories.

Whatever makes them to tired to say "I'm bored". I find that not repeating the same activity over and over works best. We take day trips to the museums, parks, the zoo, shopping malls and restaurants. We walk and use public transportation as much as possible, they love the trains. When we are inside we do challenges, quizzes, board games, cooking and lots of reading, but the best way to beat the summer boredom is a amusement park, the beach or any vacation outside of where you reside....so let's get "packing"!

Here are some ideas we have done and still do each summer: *Books or cds from library-yeah ik we have Netflix😂) * The Arboretum-take summer photos-collect rocks etc, * Go to the dog park & take our pooches. * Summer Free movies at Cobb or Cinedome * Volunteer at The Soup Bowl * Free bowling -register usually online but shoe rental not included. * UA campus Smith museum. It's $1! * Night rude around town/backroad or neighborhood with a Sonic ice cream (think half priced shakes) * movie night with friends over, pop popcorn & make a fort to watch them in. * Camp outside in the bavkyard for a night * kids eat Free often at IHOP & other participating restaurants, take advantage of that! * Spend the night at Grandparents house at least once a piece during the summer but split up or alternate your children so that it gives one on one time & is it too much on Mom & Dad's Mom & Dad. :) * Lowes has a Build & Grow program on Saturday's just register online! Hope this helps!

Someone mentioned the summer reading program at the town library. Some school systems offer a program during part of the summer - not necessarily academic in nature.

Fill a wading pool with soapy colored water and use a hula hoop to make giant bubbles. The trick is to also add glycerin to the water. It's sold in the pharmacy department of most grocery stores.

Put the electronic gadgets in a locked location for at least a couple of hours every day to force the kids to have some non-screen time for doing outdoor activities!

Half day summer camps for the first three weeks for the youngest one. Swimming as much as possible for the older two!
