The length some go to for preserving their youth and beauty seems to get more unbelievable as time goes on. Recent reports of six women receiving buttocks enhancement injections with the same silicon used to caulk bathtubs is the latest news of unhealthy procedures in the name of beauty. It is being reported that the women were using an unlicensed provider for the procedures they underwent.
CBS News reports about the six women, all from Essex County New Jersey, who have been hospitalized since receiving the nonmedical-grade silicone injections. Steven Marcus, executive and medical director of the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System, describes the chemicals these women were injected with as "the same stuff you use to put caulk around the bathtub." It is being reported that the women came to the hospitals suffering from deep tissue and skin infections.
New Brunswick plastic surgeon, Gregory Borah, explains that using over the counter silicone under the skin can cause abscesses that look like a "big zit." And if the infection is not treated early on, the patient is at risk for more serious complications.
News of the six women has drawn a lot of attention to the world of unlicensed plastic surgeons. The fake doctor who performed the procedures reportedly did not even have an office, instead he performed the injections in a number of hotels in the New Jersey area. Health officials urge women who are considering any type of plastic surgery to do their homework. Research doctors to make sure they are licensed and their current patients are happy with past procedures.

I think that if you are going to get something done you need to research rather then go for the cheapest person out there. If you can't afford it then wait and save up until you can. Going for the cheapest person you find is very risky and can result in death. And if you do go with someone and find out that you won't be going to an office then get out of there. Why risk your life for something that really isn't worth it in the first place. Be happy with who you are then everything else will fall into place.

I don't understand how you NOT research a doctor who is going to perform a procedure on you. There have been several main stream cases and I was hoping that people would learn lessons from them. I guess I was wrong. I agree with you, bourmanfamily, if they need it that bad than save! I also think there are so many more important things in life than a butt enhancement...but (no pun intended) to each their own!

I can understand getting work done if it will improve your health, but doing it for the sake of aesthetics just shows that you're insecure and you should work on your body image rather than your body. Those women really should have researched their 'practitioner' and maybe rethought whether or not they truly needed butt enhancement.

I blame our society, TV, and the media for pushing some women to do the extreme!! All you hear talk about is how gorgeous a skinny, big breasted women look!! I am not against plastic surgery but when someone wants the impossible than that's when it gets you in trouble!! There are other ways to get a perky butt it might not be a JLo booty but hey we are all different sizes and what we got is what we need to concentrate on and make it work to our advantage!!

Definitely going too far when you go to a hotel for surgery and not a hospital or licensed clinic. I don't have a problem with plastic surgery when it is researched and done right.

the women think they are saving money, but then in the end they are going to spend more because of the hospital visits and the problems they will have in the future. i respect my body more then a lot of things and will never subject myself to something this stupid and desperate.
