Spotlight on SheSpeaks Blogger - Jamie Tompkins of TigerStrypes Blog

Jamie Tompkins started the “TigerStrypes Blog” to be able to write and share aspects of her life.  She talks about her family, crafting and many other things. Away from the blog, she's a stay-at-home Mom as well as run JTGDesign - her own home-based business of graphic design and project creation. 

We sat down with Jamie to find out more about her, and here is what we found out, in her own words.

My niche is…Almost everything – crafting, recipes, being a Mom, reviews & more!

I write when…..I find the time.

How has blogging changed my life:  Being able to meet new people, share memories, and tips, sample new products, give advice to others and just have my opinion heard.

A brand I have loved working with:  Not really a brand, per se, but a company called Propeller – great people, new ideas, etc.

I started blogging in... 2010 just part time. It’s now almost a full-time job that I’m able to do from home.

How I see the future of blogging/social media: It used to be that everyone thought that they could become rich blogging, and then so many get upset when it doesn’t take off right away.  I see different types of futures…for me, it’s continuing the great friendships that I’ve made online with other bloggers, sharing advice, as well as receiving it from others, and just using my blog as a way to add my voice to the world.

Where I work:  I own JTGDesign (www.JTGDesign.com) - a graphic design firm and photo editing company.  I work from home, set my own hours and love what I do.  I also volunteer online for Global Media Outreach to help spread God’s Word.

I am connected….All of the time.  Living far from family and working from home, I want to make sure that I don’t miss anything. 

When I’m stressed, I…..Just head out into our backyard.  Living in the mountains, it’s a getaway right outside the door.

My favorite gadget is….my Samsung Galaxy phone – I can stay connected to everything and even take it with me!

My favorite travel destination is….Northern California.  My dream is to one day live in Sonoma/Napa Valley. I lived in SoCal for years, before moving to AZ and never want to go back there!

My favorite clothing brand is…Whatever is on sale!

I do all my shopping….At the small choice of stores here on the mountain.  I have to plan trips up to Flagstaff about twice a year to actually even see a mall, and shop at all of the big stores.

My favorite TV shows: Rachael Ray, Night Shift, SYTYCD, The Talk, ABC15 News

My favorite movie:  It used to be CARS, even though I’m old (ha/ha), but after seeing Furious 7, that one now takes the #1 spot!!

Coffee or tea:  Coffee, coffee, and coffee!!!

I dream about….Learning how I can be used to help others even more.

What else I do: Volunteer at the local senior center and farmer’s market.  Go off-road with my family in our ATV’s.  Do cross-stitch art, projects with my Cricut Explore and Silhouette Cameo, create plastic canvas and many other crafts.

Causes I've worked with and made a difference via blogging about: I loved helping to spread the word about animal rescue, and helping to let others know about what could be done to help people in other countries get better water.  Any cause that is close to my heart, I love to help spread the word about.
