Ellen Christian is a busy mom of two teenagers (16 & 20) who enjoys family, cooking, crafting and country life. After 25+ years in the business arena, she left a career as a local elected official to work for herself and find her way back to a simpler way of life that she remembers from her childhood. She blogs at Confessions of an Overworked Mom in an attempt to manage her desire for a greener lifestyle while dealing with the time constraints many busy women face. We caught up with her to find out more about her life and here is what we found out, in her own words.

I live…In rural Vermont.

I write…When I'm awake :) I write a lot. It inspires me and makes me happy.

How has blogging changed my life? Blogging has allowed me to stay home and support my family. I have met some wonderful friends and traveled to several fun different locations that I'd never have been able to otherwise.

A brand I have loved working with: I loved working with Home Depot. I did a series of gardening/DIY posts that were such fun to do and a great fit for my site.

When did I start blogging? I have been blogging for almost 6 years.

How I see the future of blogging/social media: I wish I had a crystal ball to have the answer to that. I see blogging evolving in a more authentic way to be less a form of advertising and more a way of creating stories.

Where I work: In the living room at my desk, looking out the window at our ducks and chickens.

I am connected…Constantly. I've been known to return emails at 2am.

When I’m stressed … Clean. I hate cleaning for the most part but when totally stressed out, watch out, my house is spotless.

My favorite gadget is…My iPhone. I'm never without it.

My favorite travel destination is…Somewhere local. I don't really travel and I'm not a big city girl. I'm most at home at a local historic destination or sitting on the banks of the creek down the road.

My favorite clothing brand is.... I have to pick one? I'm a bit fashion obsessed, hence the fashion blog. My top brands would be Coach, Michael Kors, and Jones New York. Casual brands would probably be American Eagle, Dansko & Naturalizer.

I do all my shopping…Online. We just don't have the brick and mortar stores that a big city does. Once or twice a year, I head to the city and visit the outlets.

My favorite TV shows: Legend of Mick Dodge, Countdown to Apocalypse, anything on the History Channel. I'm not a big TV buff.

My favorite movie: Thinner or The Langoliers by Stephen King.

Coffee or tea: Most definitely coffee - preferably a latte with organic milk and stevia.

I love…Life. I'm truly happier now than I have ever been before.

I dream about….Being completely self sufficient.

What else I do: I am the campaign manager for BOOMbox Network (not sure you want to mention that?). I love to garden, craft, read, cook and spend too much time working. Blogging is my full time job.
