Dean K. is a lifestyle blogger who recently moved to the Pacific Northwest with her 3 kids, husband, and their squishy face dog. Writing and creating are a constant that keep her grounded wherever she may go. You can catch Dean write about life in progress on her blog, Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress.

We wanted to get to know Dean K. better, and here is what we found out, in her own words.

Where you can find me:  Twitter -  InstagramPinterest -  Google+ - Facebook

I live in…. I currently live in Washington, but I am a misplaced Texan. I’ve been quite nomadic over the last few years living in Illinois, South Carolina, and now Washington, next stop ? :)

My niche is… I know this is not the right answer when it comes to blogging experts, but I think I’m kind of niche-less. If I have to label myself, I say Lifestyle. Everyone can sit at my table, I have something for everyone.

I write when... I’m inspired. Sadly, my best ideas always come to me in the shower or in the car while I’m driving. I will write a whole post in my head and it never comes out quite the same once I get to my pen and paper. Yes, I said pen and paper, because I’m old school. Not all of my posts are handwritten first but the bigger deeper posts usually are.

How has blogging changed my life: Oh my goodness blogging has changed my life immensely!! I know that may seem weird to some, but to my friends out there who suffer from a touch of anxiety you know. Something changed in me after having kids, my husband went to war, {thankfully} returned home from war, moving away from family and friends, and having that family I left back in Texas move on, or rather apart, was hard, and I needed something. I did not know blogging was it! I started my original blog to showcase hair bows and tutus I made for my Etsy shop, it was a short-lived endeavor, but one that helped to open new doors. I began writing for Tots To Teens Magazine and  Mrs. AOK, A Work In Progress was formed. In my time blogging I have met plenty of AMAZING women who have helped to keep me lifted, along with my loving family who cheers me on each and every day. Writing is therapeutic, creating is therapeutic, and all the new friendships I am so lucky to have made over the years: icing on the cake!

A brand I have loved working with: That’s a great question, a tough one, because I’m thankful for each brand that has worked with me. If I have to pick just one I would have to say Johnson & Johnson. Johnson & Johnson took a chance on me earlier in my blogging journey and stayed with me. I’ve worked on two separate campaigns for them, writing three separate posts. I also appreciate that Johnson & Johnson took parents’ concerns seriously and made a change to provide us with peace of mind.

When did you start blogging: I believe I started my original blog in 2011, but I didn’t consider myself a blogger then, especially since I didn’t blog routinely. 2013 was when I started to become a blogger, it’s also when I began to write for Tots To Teens Magazine.

How I see the future of blogging/social media: I think we are becoming an on-the-go society, we want it now and we want it fast. I believe that’s why people are gravitating to Snapchat and Facebook Live, it’s real-time we can take along with us. I’m actually not on Snapchat and I’ve never watched anything on FB Live; remember what I told you, I’m old school. I’m hoping video doesn’t take over blogging and social media completely.

Where I work: You can usually find me working at my desk, kitchen table, and writing anywhere I can.

I am connected….  To life. Turning 35 wakes you up! I’m trying to make the best of each day, staying connected to what matters and to who matters. You matter! <3

When I’m stressed, I... Write, paint, laugh, watch trashy reality TV or workout.

My favorite gadget is... My iPhone! It’s how I stay connected to my people and take pictures for my blog and Instagram. Yes, my blog pictures. :)

My favorite travel destination is…. CORN BALL ALERT: Anywhere with my family, but preferably the beach or Disney World. :)

My favorite clothing brand is... Anything on sale. I do not have a favorite brand.

I do all my shopping... For my kids. {TRUTH BOMB}

My favorite TV shows... I love to watch trashy reality television and balance it out with shows like Cosmos. I just binged watched the first season of Mr. Robot and I’m hooked! I could watch The Office on repeat.

My favorite movie: Seriously? Movie? I don’t know, there are too many. I have favorite movie categories, I’ll spare you. OR MAYBE I HAVE A NEW BLOG POST!

Coffee or tea: COFFEE!!!!! Love hard.

I dream about... So much. I’m going to sound pageant-y but I really dream about world peace. We could really use some peace right about...NOW. Personally: I would love to create a profitable business that allows me to keep creative and stay home with my babes.

What else I do: I juggle watermelons in front of the grocery store with my eyes closed, just kidding. I juggle three kids, a husband, and a dog. :)

Causes I've worked with and made a difference via blogging about: I am not sure if I have made a difference at all with my blog, however kindness is something I’m passionate about. If you take a look around my blog (which I’m kind of hoping you plan on doing after reading this) you’ll see that kindness is sprinkled throughout my blog. I gather we all have purpose on this earth, and my mission is to be the good this world needs. :) I encourage my readers to do the same.

Lovely and very much deserved! Mrs.AOK has been such an amazing influence and her blog has definitely made a huge difference in my life as a Blogger. Mrs. AOK was one of the very first Bloggers I interacted with when starting my own Blog and seeing how open, supportive, creative and willing she was (and is) to be a friend to those around her has inspired me in so many ways. Thank you SheSpeaks for bringing a spotlight to her and her blog - it is definitely something she's earned.
