Healthy Salty, Sweet & Spicy Holiday Pecans

Makes: 4 cups

Description: This recipe is sure to go fast, so cook an extra batch or two! It's the perfect seasonal treat to snack on whether you are on the go or relaxing at home. Pecans are among the top foods to contain the highest antioxidant capacity, meaning pecans may decrease the risk of cancer, heart disease, and neurological diseases such as Alzheimer?s. Pecans contain over 19 vitamins and minerals!

Ingredients:
4 tbsp  agave nectar (or honey)
1 tsp  chili powder
1 tsp  cayanne pepper
1 tsp  smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
4 cups  pecan halves
3 tbsp  brown sugar
1 tsp  sea salt
3/4 tsp  cinnamon
1  parchment paper

Instructions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees

In medium bowl, mix agave nectar, chili powder, cayanne pepper, paprika and ground cinnamon. Microwave for 60seconds. Remove from microwave and stir honey mix into nuts. Stir well to coat.

On parchment paper-lined baking sheet (no spray needed), spread nuts in a single layer. Bake at 325 until toasted and fragrant 15 minutes. Watch closely as in newer ovens, they can burn quickly.

Remove from oven and allow to cool SLIGHTLY for 1min - you need them hot. In a clean bowl, combine nuts, sugar and salt. Toss well. I say go all in and use yours hands!

Spread nuts on clean piece of parchment paper to air dry. Its best if they dont touch each other because they will stick together. Once cooled you can store them in a ziplock bag. They keep well for at least a week.

Wow these pack a punch! Really love that they aren't too sweet. I can't stop munching on them. They go great with a dark beer or cider!
