Fresh Brussel Sprouts

Makes: 4 servings

Description: Have some fresh brussel sprouts on hand? This is a tasty recipe to ensure you enjoy them!

Ingredients:
1 pound (16 ounces)  fresh brussel sprouts
2 stalks  celery
4 cloves  fresh garlic
a pinch  paprika
1/2 tsp  basil
2 sprays  PAM Olive Oil
1/2 tsp  black pepper
1 tbsp  lemon juice

Instructions: Cook the fresh brussel sprouts in the microwave for about 3 minutes (some fresh packages, like from Trader Joes, allow you to leave them in the bag). While the sprouts are cooking, on a cutting board mince the garlic and chop up the celery into small pieces. Spray a medium sized pan with PAM and turn on medium-high heat. Add the chopped garlic and celery. Cook this for about 5 minutes on the stove. As it is cooking, take the brussel sprouts out of the microwave. Chop off the bottom stem of the brussel sprouts and slice them into quarters. Add the brussel sprouts to the pan with the garlic and celery. Cook for 10 minutes moving all the food around; the brussel sprouts will begin to brown (the browner the better!). Add the paprika, basil, pepper and lemon juice. Continue to cook for an additional 5-10 minutes. Serve warm. Reheat leftovers for 1-2 minutes.

I love brussel sprouts cooked this way. I make this recipe but I toss the Brussel sprouts with olive oil (after cooking in microwave & cutting in half). Then spread them out on a cookie sheets and bake in oven. When done I drizzel basamic vinegrett. This adds a little sweetness to them.

Absolutely delicious! They look and taste great---lemon juice and paprika are a great addition to this recipe :) I love the comments ("the browner the better") in the directions. What a great idea to microwave them first...cuts the stove time down---quicker to the table :)

Brussel sprouts are my favorite vegetable, along with asparagus. I am going to try this recipe for sure. I thought the celery addition was different but I'll give it a try.

This recipe looks pretty yummy! This is one of the favorite vegetables in my house but i have found a lot of people have never eaten then or wont even give em a try! I think they really taste best when roasted by themselves but the addition of celery sounds interesting! Thanks
