#SheSpeaksChallenge Results: Last Chance to Win 1 of 5 Amazon Echo Dots!

It's finally over... or is it? A month ago, the SheSpeaks staff challenged ourselves and our members to take a month and complete personal goals. We asked: Can you really see a difference in your body, your life, or your health, by doing something for 28 days straight? Now that the challenge is officially over, we can tell you what we really think!

How is your challenge going? Tell us about it for the chance to be one of five lucky winners of an Amazon Echo Dot! (P.S. It's not too late to start!)

Turns out, some challenges are better than others...

Prep the Day Challenge, Ann
This challenge proved to me how critical is it for me to prepare for the morning the night before. Unfortunately, it didn't always happen. It was especially tough on nights when I was out of the house. But luckily, I saw how calm the morning atmosphere was when I did do advance planning, so it gives me incentive to keep trying! 
 
Water Challenge, Julia
I can feel my body thanking me for doing this challenge. I had been so used to consuming very little water during the day, that it was hard to remember to keep refilling my water bottle. But forcing myself to pay more attention made drinking water a habit and at the very least, I became more mindful of when I really need to hydrate. I'm definitely planning to continue this challenge indefinitely.
 
Gratitude Challenge, Carol
I wrote down 10 things I was grateful for each day. Some days my lists was finished by 10am, other days I was writing both yesterday's and today's list, but I did it! It reminded me that I have a good life and there are A LOT Of things to be grateful for, even on bad days. I definitely recommend this challenge because it doesn't cost anything and you already have everything you need. I'll definitely continue, though I may narrow it to just 3 things. 10 was a lot!

Cardio Challenge, Missy
I actually surpassed my challenge - I had a goal of biking 3 times a week and most weeks I actually rode 4-5 times. I learned that I couldn't put it off until the end of the day because I would be too tired. But if I rode in the morning, I was full of energy and had a feeling of accomplishment right out of the gate. The best part is that it is now a habit, so I will continue to do it... I'm on a roll!
 
No Added-Sugar Challenge, Aliza
I do like carbs and sugar so it was hard to give that up entirely. But I've learned that I can just make smarter decisions overall even if I decide to have some sugar in between. I am now much more conscious of how much sugar I'm eating, which will help me make smarter choices for myself and my family.

This challenge promised to "completely change your body in 28 days." Nope, that didn't happen. I don't really see any significant changes, though I do feel a bit stronger. I was actually able to meet the goal and do all 45 push-ups (though not all at once!) I feel proud that I completed this task, and it inspired me to set another goal for myself.
 
Healthy Eating: Soup Challenge, Galit
Eating soup every day made me push myself to be creative and I even managed to expand my family's food palates too. Since I also bought soup or pre-cut veggies when I had less time, I saw that I didn't have to exhaust myself to get healthy food on the table. Eating soup every day for a whole month was too long for one type of meal, but I will definitely keep soups into the dinner rotation.

Meditation Challenge, Kelly
Meditating an average of 20 minutes a day taught me that peace and calmness is attainable at any moment if you focus. Finding the right time of day to dedicate to meditation is hard - some days I didn't get to it, but other days I went above and beyond. I love that there are so many types of medication so everyone can really make it their own and I will definitely continue.

    I have been working along side everyone this entire time. I am at a great stage in my recovery to walking again. I am walking without crutches now in my walking cast/boot. Moving on to a smaller walking boot and physical therapy next! I cannot wait to get my life back!

    I updated on the wrong discussion board-- this is what I said there: "I'm still trying to drink more water-- it's definitely a challenge, but I'm trying to make the conscious effort to change my bad habits. I am going to download an app on my phone to be a bit more timely with my water intake, so it doesn't seem like such a chore." Thankfully, it has gotten a little easier to drink water, as I have tried to divide it up a bit throughout the day, but it is still a work in progress.

    A small update from my last post. My challenge was drinking more water. I found an app that reminds you to drink water! The app sends a reminder to your phone to drink water. I have been drinking water more than before and I hope to continue on and increase my water intake. I also put a small flavor drop in my water which has helped a ton. So far, so good! I also notice now that I have more of a craving for water when I am thirsty!

    I made a commitment to take more time to be intentional with my kids (ages 10 and 7 months) and do something special one on one with them a few times a week. So far I have been able to accomplish my goal. I've found that it might mean the laundry doesn't get done until after they are in bed, but I am closer to both of them and it makes my day better and all of us happier.
